Argos have a good selection of Fellowes shredders at keen prices. This one is particularly suited to home use.

So unusual for them to be the price leader that I thought it was worth posting.

Better than buying an obselete model from [email protected]..

Not probably important for home use but i'd recommend a cross cut shredded not strip cut like the P40

like this one from maplin for 24.99 (bit more expensive to be fair)

I have this one from maplin which cost 19.99 on promotion at the time but is now 39.99. It seems to come up fairly often on promotion though. It does cross cut, credit cards and cd/dvds.

I'll vote bertts hot though as 19.99 is a pretty good price for a good brand 8 sheet shredder and folk are unlikely to need a cross cut shredder in reality.

Just spotted as bertts initial message indicates that argos have a range of shredders including a couple of cross cut models also for 19.99

Not a cross-cut so I wouldn't get it.
Before Christmas I bought a Fellows P50 cross cut shredder for £13 from Argos.

Being realistic are you likely to shred anything worth the trouble to a crook of rooting through your bin and piecing the shredded strips back together again?

what about this one? £19.99 - Fellows Cross-Cutter

not really but why risk it, there is enough information for a crook to abuse so better to be safe than sorry, unless you are Jeremy Clarkson of course! :whistling:

Strip cuts are annoying because the strips take up loads of space in the device, whereas little cross cut bits of paper are quite compact. If you're like me and let the scrap paper build up (doesn't take long with the amount of junk mail these days) then this is quite useful.

I prefer the strip cut because the overhead on the machine is much less. Reliability and the ability to handle more documents easily are more important. Although ultimate security is in theory compromised in practice no document I have is worth that much trouble. For those whose paranoia demands it Argos have this machine
