Er.....it's somewhere to park the lappy when you're not using it?
So you have to get it out next time?
Rather than just leave it there ready?
Sorry m8 but I just don't get it. oO

Yep - same here, I don't get it.

Keeps everything tidy in clamshell mode using an external monitor keyboard and mouse, and gives you easy access USB ports to boot. Only problem for Fellowes was that not many people use an external monitor, keyboard and mouse.

I assume this is meant for people who have a lap-desktop?
You know, the strange people who buy a laptop because its "portable" then place it behind there monitor and use it as a Desktop
#8
Doesn't look very sturdy, only 0.7kg it will probably get knocked over easily.

It quite clearly "maximises your desk space"...duh.

And who wouldn't, with that sexy monitor on offer? Eh? Eh?

Ah, I get it now.
It's for people who bought the wrong sized desk then?
But please don't "duh" them, it was probably a bargain from here.

I used to do that.... but 99.9% of laptops have the Wi-Fi aerials in the lid so when its closed the metal in the bottom (HDD etc) interferes with it thus disrupting the signal & making it very weak, always best to leave it open about an inch or 2

Still might consider picking me one of these up if i can find a cheap decent wireless pen

Cheers OP

If you're using a monitor with a laptop, I can't see why you wouldn't dual-screen it :S

Dual screen is terrible when one is a 23" @ 1920 x 1080 and the other is a 15" at 1366 x 768, plus i lack the desk space as the left side has a built in DVD rack

If only they'd included a built-in FM radio!
#16
I reckon these are not popular because most folks using a laptop with an external screen and keyboard (me included) will use both screens in extended desktop mode.....

good deal if you need one though :)

Should be DAB at this price :)
#18
wouldnt every time you turn the thing on u would have to open the laptop ?
#19
No, DAB's carp.
Internet radio. :|

I actually bought one just to see what it was like and as expected it's dreadful xD but on the plus side I now have a USB hub and a mini usb cable =]

£1000 laptop into a £1 docking station.....hmmmmm - I foresee CRASH! £300 to replace the screen please! HD knackered and new DVD drive also. I will stick to leaving it flat on the table thanks!

Do you really think this was designed and made to sell at £1?
Haven't you considered that it may be a much dearer and therefore more sturdy item that PoundLand aquired cheaply?
I wouldn't have one given free but I'm sick of remarks about PoundLand's stuff being shoddy!
I'm sure some of it is but many of the items there started out at a lot more than a pound and have ended up there as a result of many reasons.
ie. Overstocking, bankrupcy, dishonoured orders or just basic haggling.

:p

is this nation wide i looked localy but they didnt have any ?
#24
They had this in Poundland glasgow and i bought it.. absolute gash
#25
will be checking my local if they are stocking it or not. Comparatively awesome price for this dock, so voted HOT!!!!
For moaners, i would say don't buy it if you don't want it. Spending £1.00 would never harm :P. .

Never a good idea to run a laptop with the screen closed. They inevitably get hot (the more so because the closed lid reduces cooling) and there's a risk that the screen well get degraded or damaged.

Totally agree Plunn. Fellowes make pretty decent quality office accessories. The people who are dismissing this are the same as those who criticise supermarket offers such as premium sausages for £2.49 which are reduced on offer to 49p - "I'm not putting that crap into my mouth" when they would happily eat it at £2.49. Weird.

Anyway I bought one today. The till assistant had a double take at the size of the item for £1! It's very good quality plastic but unless you use it with the monitor riser it's a little gash. The bonus is the 4 in 1 USB port which can be used separately. I bought it to store my netbook in and it's perfect.

Don't think they've mounted that right the cooling fan is in the back left corner if I remember correctly.
