The terms say:

Direct Debit offers

We ask that you enter into a Direct Debit agreement with the intention that your subscription will continue for a minimum period of 12 months, even if the frequency of payment is for a shorter period (for example, quarterly). However, you will still have the right to cancel your Direct Debit in accordance with Direct Debit Guarantee below if you so desire. If you do cancel, you will receive only the issues you have already paid for. If a gift is included as part of the subscription offer we reserve the right to request the return of the gift in the event of an early cancellation of the subscription.

I don't think there is anything legally trying you to a twelve month contract

used to love FHM....typical lad's mag...easy to pick up, disposable rubbish...then they went and "revamped" it and in an attempt to clean up their image introduced a "No nipple" policy! (yes seriously) never been the same since.........

You're right - it's never been the same since - it's better now. Instead of filling loads of pages with t-ts (it was becoming as bad as nuts & zoo, etc...) they now have more articles & features. I find it a much better read now it's stopped being a softcore porn mag. I've got nothing against seeing fit women in revealing gear, but it was getting beyond a joke. I'm glad they actually started writing proper articles instead of just lazily padding pages with boobs in an attempt to appeal to the "sun reader" crowd.

I have got to say this is a pretty good deal, which keeps coming back and forward,

A cheeky tip is to get Topcashback at £6.06 for orders over £5 from greatmagazines. Have done it the past two years when this deal comes about so end up paying less than 50p per issue!

I subscribed to FHM before Christmas purely to get Assassin's Creed Brotherhood cheap (think it worked out at £28 for a year's FHM with the game free, or as I look at it I got the game worth £35 for £28 with the mag free). What a disappointment, FHM is so boring now, maybe it was a bit OTT before but now I literally read maybe two articles per issue at the most. I'd have been absolutely gutted if I'd paid for it! People at work often bring in Nuts magazine, and though it is littered with scantily clad women (which I find just make it easier on the eyes), it is also a good read - article, model, jokes page, model, something about cars/trucks/gadgets, model, nasty work related injury photos, model. FHM could learn a lot...

I wouldn't mind buying 12 issues for 12 notes if I could pay by cheque.
