Good deal, had used this before, normally can take upto 3 weeks for games, but comes for sure... HOT
#3
you have to sign up for 12 months though?
#4
good offer, but:

** Direct Debit purchases have to be bought individually and minimum subscription term is 12 months. Your basket contents will be kept safe for you while you set up your Direct Debit

so you have to sign up for 12 months. Unless I'm missing something?

if u cancel the direct debit after 5 months with your bank theres nothing they can do, u would have already received the free gift.

i've done it b4!!

Its a good deal, if you get a copy of the game.

altho i wouldnt touch any of these deals as i got stung badly with the assassins creed offer. waited over 1 month only to be told the game had ran out and got sent worthless holiday vouchers.

www.greatmagazines.co.uk/xboxvegas

i saw this in the FHM email, although the link pointed to the pish deal mentioned hereAvoid the 6 months one for £16.99 follow the link and go for £20 for 12 issues and Vegas Free!! Much better offer imo!

They don't perform a credit check as part of your purchase, therefore nothing they can do.

Does that matter though?. As soon as you fail to pay a direct debit on a service you're in a contract for don't you get flagged as bad for credit?.
#17
good value if you flog the game on ebay

It'll probably be a promo copy and 'not for resale' stamped all over it. Not a great game anyways, it's beyond me how a sequel made by the same developers can actually look worse than the original...

I received assassins creed from them and it was just like it is in a shop!!!!

The ONLY lads magazine worth having on subscription! It has however gone downhill a little since they changed the entire structure of the mag about a year ago. Still, I'm happy to have it landing on the doormat every month. :w00t:

Also - my subscription is up next month. Does anyone know if I cancelled it and applied for it again I could get this deal?? :whistling:

yh u can, only if u do the trial subs like 3 issues for a pound and then cancel u can't sign up again for a yr, but if u cancelled after a normal 12 month deal is over u can cancel and sign up again, just like a mobile contract, if they offer u a staying on deal and u find a better one by signing up fresh u can cancel it and get the better deal!!!

Agreed this deal is much better in my opp, i have signed for this, i quite like FHM so 12 months for £20 without the game would of been enough to make me want to sign! (£1.66 per issue! isnt this normally around £3.50 -£ 4.00 on the shelf?)
(also for those of a nervouse disposistion, and worry that you may have bad things done to you if you only complete 6 out of 12 months, would deff be a better deal.

Gone through quidco, so with anyluck may get another £2 off?? ;-) Not holding my breathe mind! :-D

ring your bank to cancel, thats it, job done
#24
Just be wary of the fine print which states they have the right to substitute the free gift with something else if there is excessive demand.

I signed up for a FHM offer exactly like this for Assassin's Creed, and instead I got some stupid holiday vouchers which were of no use to me...

#29
i did this with the assassins creed deal just before xmas, and got some vouchers towards flight to dublin because they'd ran out! got my mag in february then cancelled subscription.
#30
Im with Lloyds, as far as i was aware this is something thats been available with most big banks for quite some time
Maybe someone who banks with the barclay brothers may be able to shed some light for you?

#32
My quidco just validated, so i got 12 issues of FHM for £18, with free raindow six game, i dont want the game but looking at ebay it looks like i will easy get £12-£15 for it. meaning 12 issues of FHM for around £3-£5!!

wtf

your not taking out a credit agreement with them, it's just a subscription to a magazine, i've cancel direct debits to many magazines in the past without a problem, this does not have anything to do with your credit rating.

I think the concern is with agreeing to a 12month contract then canceling you're direct debit on the sly after 6 months to force them to stop sending you more mags. Same as if you don't pay your electricity, gas, sky, broadband etc etc you'll get a mark put next to your name. I'm not saying this is the case with this particular offer but you don't have to be taking out a credit agreement with someone in order to screw up your credit rating.

All they can do is take you to court to enforce the contract...very unlikely for such a small amount. Even small claims wouldn't hear anything less than £50.

There is a huge difference...With gas/electricity you are billed in arrears, and therefore already owe the money. With a subscription they are taking advanced payment, if they are unable to do so, they can contact you for payment, however if you refuse they have the option to cancel the subscription...therefore they are not losing money by providing a product and not being paid for it.

exactly, well said

I'm just saying you are agreeing to a 12month contract. If a company goes to take money from your bank account (which you agreed to for the 12 month period) and it gets denied I'm not so sure thats such a good thing. Banks and building societies use your account activity to judge your credit score (including all payments and transactions). I don't think it'll do you any favors is all.
#39
Not worth doing the direct debit as its alwasy a hassle to cancel them / forget etc.... Still its only £30 for a one off payment, if you get the game its still a real bargain, £2.50 for 12 mags (And its an ok mag) plus you get the game, playu a bit sell on ebay for a tenner.

Unfortunately the £5off code on quidco doesnt work even for non direct debit...

I have ordered it for £30 I am happy with that and possible quidco...
#40
I don't really know how direct debit works, but surely as it is an annual direct debit, if you just cancel it after paying them the initial £20, they won't know you cancelled it until they attempt to take out £30 the next year?, so can't you just then forget about it, and wait for your 12 issues to roll in?
