Worth checking with all fibre providers what their UPLOAD speeds are too - some limit to 1-2Mbps rather than say the 20Mbps you'd hope for. Couldn't immediately notice what TalkTalk offer (personally with PlusNet, BT's value brand).

sorry for question not in place maybe, but is there an option to have a broadband without Bt line connection? apart from on mobile? tnx.

yeah with a different provider. or if you mean without line rental the you will have to get fibre optic.

BT infinity 1 38mbps plus phone (free weekend calls inc. 0870 and 0845) and TV 12 month contract with line rental paid upfront and taking quidco £200 cashback (tracked straight away) and £125 sainsburys voucher into account works out under £4.25 - see the post from yesterday. I ordered straight away - will be ditching VM instead of trying to negotiate the current £27 retention they've put on the table down.

To be clear that is ALL IN - sending out router, activation, line rental, everything. Amazing. Only downside is 20Gb limit after which they charge £5.60/5Gb - still letting me have 40Gb for less than VM's equivalent package (M tv, M phone, 50Mbps BB)

@sid

Why are you having fibre with a 20gig limit? There is literally no point. At that speed you could use that on downloading within an hour.

Anything above about 5meg isn't going to be noticeable as a speed increase for general browsing. Absolutely pointless.

I just manged to escape their clutches. Worst broadband and customer service I have EVER come across. I
Even had a customer advisor shout and be rude to me over a problem they created and then tried to add £100 to my bill for he pleasure of it
Avoid like the plague

tnx, yes i was thinking without line rental.
i know that on continent there are loads of internet providers that just transmit through wireless, (if i explained it right) prices are much more competitive and speed a lot faster, jut wondering weather they have got anything like that here as well...

Don't forget to check Quidco (upto £90 for new customers) and TCB (upto £63 for existing customer upgrades).

I have upgraded tonight before seeing this. Have been keeping my eye on TT fibre for a while and waiting for the right deal/cashback combo.

Heat from me!

FYI I have this with TT and my upload speed is between 1.6mb - 1.9mb.

Im with talktalk and have fibre for the last two years. I originally signed up to the 38mb fibre for £10 a month over 18 months then complained about a half price deal they offered after id started my contract so they credited my account with £90. Last year i complained again about the slow speeds i was getting(15mb max. I had previously been getting 22mb which is fast for my area) so they gave me Large fibre free which did not improve the speed but gave me 6mb upload speeds but as it was free i didnt complain. I did get a new router last month which handles mine and my households data alot better than the old one
