Seconded. Unless you like plastic tat.
excellent if you wan't to dammage yor hearing - cold
i have FiiO e3 and although they are cheap and may look tacky to some these things really do work. They dont increase volume and huge amount but you can really notice the difference in bass and treble. Mind cheap earphones wont be too noticeable. I have sennheiser cx300's which are probably the best you can get under £20 and they are great together with FiiO
I got an e3 for my EU volume capped ipod . Brilliant little thing . I am already half deaf and getting on a bit so this gives back the volume i need.voted hot .

Fiio are very good amplifiers good to use with canal earphones and personal headphones (not the huge ones).
As an electronic engineer who has in the past designed headphone amps are I'd say these are a bargain. You can checkout AVforums too, they seem to like these as well
What's the point of an amplifier for canal earphones? Who is using these things at home? Why don't you have a pair of decent headphones instead? Don't give me any excuses.
Because canal phones have a flat line gain over frequency, most people prefer a 'natural' gain which means at the bass frequencies you have a a few dB bump and at the treble you should find a decreasing gain as the frequency increases.
A huge number of people have these for good reason they're cheap but good. To build one would set you back quite a bit more than the price.
Some people really are clueless.
Why vote cold just because you care for your hearing?
Some of us take our audio seriously, and if you listen to music on a personal mp3 player or mobile phones, you might find that the audio sucks.
These Fiio things can really improve the sound from your source...
I must apologise for my comments above. I am talking nonsense and I am an ****.
