One my wifes favourtie olive oils for cooking with, and the one Jamie Oliver uses in his books I think, and at normal price of £3.45 for a 500ml bottle this is a great deal.

We got the Mild & Light one in store, however I'm confused after looking online as it only shows the offer on the Extra Virgin Oil one.

I know quite sad isn't it, but I couldn't resist. I normally see the offers but by the time I get home someone has already posted, so I thought I would try doing it live today!!!, thanks for the rep and heat.

Tesco currently have 500ml bottles of Filippo Berio Gusto Fruttato Extra Virgin Olive Oil on offer at £1.99. This is quoted as being 'blended to achieve a rich fruity flavour and a high-spirited peppery finish'.

Filippo Berrio Mild & Light - 1 litre - is on offer in Sainsbury. Half price at £2.74.

Not saying that it's better than the OP's deal (if you can find the 750 ml at ASDA 3 litres is 22p dearer in Sainbury - if not Sainsbury is cheaper) - just another option. I rarely see this on offer so we stocked up.

Thanks for the info, I'm sure people will find this useful. Looks like a good deal on this stuff no matter where you do your weekly shopping. Rep to both of you :-D

This offer is on the mild and light version only. On the bottle it says it is recommended for frying and baking, not for raw use on salads! This one is a pale yellow colour.

The best stuff is dark green.

This is made from a mixture of refined and 'oil directly from olives'
A healthier alternative than veg oil for cooking but not really a brilliant olive oil. Even says on the bottle- does not taste like olives lol

One if the best Olive Oils? Not something I'd agree with at all, but each to their own.

Apologies, I appear to have mis-quoted my missus, and have earache now!!!...what she meant was one of the best brands that she has used (for cooking)...not that it is "the" best or the best type from this brand. I have amended in the post.

Well I was about to post the deal as my local ASDA had 750ml bottles 2 for £4! That's such a bargain. Also a little trick: you are always better off buying Extra virgin olive oil and then mix with Sunflower oil. I am Italian and this is what my mum has tought me. She says that normal Olive oil is just Extra virgin mixed with other cheaper oil (usually sunflower oil).

The tip might be a good one, but the suggestion that normal olive oil is just extra virgin mixed with other cheaper oil is contradicted by the label on the bottle of Filippo Berio olive oil that I just bought:

[CENTER]Olive Oil composed of refined olive oils and virgin olive oils

Oils comprising exclusively olive oils that have undergone refining and oils obtained directly from olives.

They provide more general information about olive oil here.
