I've tried various transmiters in my cars but don't really credit them. The last one I bought was a Belkin, but the only way I could get it to work was by dangling it over the radio. Has anyone else had any better luck?

I can highly recommended some of the Kensington transmitters, they are more pricey, I've brought 2 each costing around £40 but they are superb. First one is a digital FM transmitter, Although the cable did has eventually worn out on it, but I do use it a lot and tend to throw it around. Latest one I brought is this http://www.amazon.co.uk/KENSINGTON-K33384US-QUICKSEEK-FM-TRANSMITTER/dp/B000QJ56RM/ref=pd_bbs_sr_7/026-5874871-4930830?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1188804013&sr=8-7 which doesnt work quite as well, but still very clear.

The important thing to remember with fm transmitters is they aren't 100% clear, but my experience with these have been pretty darn good.

Hi Predikuesi, I've tried various transmitters as well and they've all failed dismally apart from a Griffin iTrip but even that suffers from interference whilst in largely built up areas. From what I can recall the Gadget Show highly recommended a Macally transmitter. They make these for both iPods and Sansa MP3/MP4 Players (possibly more).

Hope this helps.

good find, handy for people like me with a cruddy tape player in their car who keep getting screwed by the cheap car radio deals.
Does that USB charge other devices from the battery onboard or can you charge the transmitters batteries using it.
If so i remember seeing a multi car charger on here recently that had a usb out.

I have the Belkin tunecast and it works great but only after adjusting the volume on the mp3 player. I paid £15 so £4 is fantastic...

Can anyone recommend a cheap mp3 player to go with this? preferably on amazon so I can get the free delivery.

I've seen 2gb ones for £12 on aria but they don't have any FM transmitters in stock and i'd rather order it all from the same place...

I know the quality isn't going to be that brilliant at this price but as long as it plays the music ok thats all i care about since i want to to use it so I can play my mp3's in the van @ work.

Edit: N/m

Decided to Buy a 1gb Zen stone... No display but its a zen so i figured at least if the fm transmitter doesn't work to well the mp3 player should be at least half decent.

It can hold the iPod and no additional power supply need to the transmitter, I think it is better~
