Just popped in to my local HMV (Taunton) and noticed they had both the PS3 & Xbox 360 Collector Editions of FFXIII for £49.99, even when all the pre-order stuff for the game (which is still out in the store) has it marked up at being £59.99.

Standard edition is £39.99 still but with the RRP being £59.99 and the cheapest online price I can find is at thehut for £54 odd.

I haven't bought it myself but I put a deposit down as I want to trade some games in and will be doing so after work today.

Not sure if Nationwide but I'm sure it would be as it is stickered with the normal HMV price stickers.

UPDATE:

Deal also available ONLINE (Link Added). Dont forget QUIDCO as well if ordering online to save yourself some more pennies!

I ordered the collectors edition but didnt think much of it. considering i could have bought the std version from thehut for only £31 . £50 seems steep.

Its cheap because nobody wants it.

It'll be cheaper in a couple of weeks when they find they need to shift stock of a collectors edition that has very little to offer a collector.

Thanks davver99 for highlighting that this is an online deal too! I'll update the original post to highlight this!

flyingteddy: Well, it depends, some people are suckered into buying CE's of games, like FFXIII I like the CE 's. I didnt pre order anywhere so the cheapest I can get the game for is £35 in Sainsburys. I cant trade games in to Sainsburys, GAME or GAMESTATION won't price match supermarkets. So for an extra £10, I can trade in my games meaning I won't pay very much for the game anyway.

Well my HMV only had 1 CE left on PS3 (which I reserved) and 3 left on 360. So they were shifting.

For those in London it might be worth to checking this out if you're thinking of buying FF13 from HMV:

Bit short notice which I apologise but for those who go have the opportunity to have their copy signed from two of the FF13 development team.

Also the first 50 people who turn up in FF13 outfits are treated to a soundtrack - not great for those getting the CE but still worth pointing out.

One of the lamest CE's in recent memory. Gutted I missed out on the shopto.net collector of mag though.

This is a stinker of a set - best off just buying the game, or waiting for a huge price drop

Hello

Many shop are sold out for this item.
I will buy, and so i would to wait a discount.

Would be a massive bargain if the OST which accompanied it was the full OST, unfortunately it's a handful of some of the worst tracks from the full game. Telling that they were packed full of these when I was in GAME and HMV earlier on, yet the regular copies were shifting from the shelves.

That's a really crap CE Edition - Music CD, some pics and a sticker ... that's it ?

Not necessary to purchase the CE for the chance to participate in the PS3 beta.

Anyone go to the FF13 London launch party? Any good (in turnout, atmosphere whatever...)?

Some postcards, a sticker and a CD (the proper soundtrack is at least 3 cds) is not worth an extra 15-19 quid. Get the hardback walkthrough book if anything, lots of pretty pictures and maps.

You get a code in the normal edition of the game to join some sort of Square 'club' which apparently unlocks some stuff and gives you a chance to be in the 14 beta.

it might not be a great collectors edition but preordered it for £54.99 on amazon and just got a email they have refunded me £10 as some sort of lower price guarantee so £44.99 aint 2 bad.

Was £59.99 in my local HMV store.
