Very poor excuse for a CE. well to be fare voted hot as it is the cheapest but its still not good for some music and art work.

I'll keep my £49 odd thehut order because its a more reputable company but am voting this hot. because it is the best price going.

Worthy of a hot vote particularly as the PS3 ltd edition is selling out all over the place at any price sub - £55.

+1.

This special edition is pathetic and should be avoided if only to send the publisher a message that a cheap childrens decal, shoddy selection of tracks from the game and artbook are not worth it.

If you like the game then do what I have done, get the special edition guide book, which is really nice, get the limited Japanese soundtrack which is 4 discs of music, 1 japanese drama cd and a cool artbook and finally, get the regular edition of the game as cheap as possible.

Can't believe the Aliens game got a steelbook and this hasn't. Idiots. ._.

Agreed,
Very poor excuse for a Collectors Edition , i would have been willing to part with a lot of money for a decent Final Fantasy XIII Collectors Edition.
Stick with the standard edition

What the hell? This was already posted recently (past few days) as on offer from Coolshop, but the thread has vanished? I was having a conversation on it. Hmmmm suspicious...

Anyway, good deal. But the CE is questionable. I love special editions but will probably make one myself!

Not only is it a poor selection of CE items but the art book is just a shoddily thrown together collection of screenshots.

You're indeed right, I posted the deal myself: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/605849/limited-collectors-edition-final-fa

Still a good price nonetheless! Considering I'd happily pay £40 for this game without a few extra goodies......

i know this is a special edition but this seems very pricey to me. £50 for a game seems like a rip off

i agree, and thanks to xbox and DVD they cut a lot of content from it too. lost planet content has also been cut due to DVD's limitations.

edit: i dont actually care if xbox gets another version but to keep everyone happy they have to make both versions the same which means even though ps3 has the potential, xbox ruins it.

expect the same with MGS rising.......forget 50GB of content like MGS4.

Looks like I'm the only one that actually likes the CE. They could have cut the art book, CD, decals and postcards out and I still would have LOVED it.

You know why? Because they fixed the cover for it! The standard edition still has that horrible, shoddy, nasty cover art that breaks the age-old tradition of Final Fantasy covers. The same goes for the guide.

Get the CE game and guide, and the covers are as good as they always were. Pure white with a classy logo. None of that character render crap.

The only reason I'm getting this. Voted hot OP...I've ordered both the guide and this. I reckon this will fall in price really really quickly but I'm getting this anyway :) A steelbook would've been nice or a demo for FF Versus XIII/FFXIV or even something RE5 CE-like
#15
Careful, they didn't fix it fully. It's only the flip top box that everything comes in that has the good cover. The game you get in the CE is still the standard version with the awful new cover :(

This should have been a PS3 exclusive really, the Japanese version is seriously glitchy and no doubt it's due to being forced to develop the game for both platforms.

No. It just means there will be DLC to extend the profit margins. As for Lost Planet...terrible.
If a games producer really suggests it is cutting elements to fit, they are really saying the game is poor.
There is this thing called a second disc when one doesn't fit....oh the fanboi urban myths.:whistling:

Square Enix have already come out and said they don't plan to release any DLC for this game as it's already perfect.

Their words.

its not a myth, its like saying why dont developers develop 100GB games using 2 blu-rays.

because
1) no-one forces them too
2) they will only aim for content fitting on 1 disk.

if xbox used blu-ray it wouldnt be cut and therefore IT IS xbox's fault.

so much for your 'myth' hey?

Utter garbage, you say that no-one forces THEM to fit the game onto more discs, ergo it is the developers fault NOT the XBox. Yes so much for the myth....

And anyway Square Enix have had more to do with the Xbox 360 than the PS3 with JRPGs so far, so using the Xbox as any sort of excuse is nonsense.

If you have both HD consoles Just wait and see which version is best, I Always try before I buy with multi format games since owning both consoles.

If you don't have both consoles then you either buy it or you don't it's that simple (if the 360 version ends up being a programmed glitchy mess I wonder who FPS_Dominator will then point the finger at ?)

To be fair though, all of those RPGs have been absolutely, diabolically bad. Star Ocean was a joke (and is on PS3 now anyway, yay /sarcasm), Infinite Undiscovery was nothing even remotely special, and The Last Remnant was average at the very best.

Regarding which version will be superior:

"While facial detail appears largely unchanged, the characters' clothes appear at first glance to be lacking finer details, with notably lower resolution textures.
Incidental environmental objects and enemies appear less detailed, both in texture and geometry.
The game's CG is extremely compressed and pales alongside the stunning HD goodness which blu-ray offers."

http://www.nowgamer.com/news/2526/ffxiii-significantly-poorer-on-xbox

There have been various different views, it's still not clear which version is best, a lot of conflicting reports out there. The only real FACT at the moment is that the 360 cutscenes are in 720p, whereas the PS3 cutscenes are in 1080p. Also, the PS3 version has uncompressed audio.

I don't want to sound like a PS3 fanboy though. At the end of the day, the two versions are going to be pretty similar. Given the choice, you should go for the PS3 one, but the 360 version will still be a very enjoyable experience.

Still in two minds as to whether or not I will buy this.

At least my girlfriend would play it if I did though, she saw the Japanese version and was quite amazed by it.
