Yup, for once us 360 guys got shafted in the port. actually I'm not sure it can possibly be as bad as the sentence makes it sound.

Ridiculous price for a great game. I'm 40 hours in and getting on with the quests, so must be about half way.

Graphics superb, story line a bit confusing (but if you take some time to read the logs then it is clear) and the battle system needs many hours to appreciate. A worthy FF IMO - I hope they are doing something on getting X/XII onto the PS3.

Great, great game.

I am... 43 hours in? To be honest when I first bought it I read all the reviews and thought 'Pah! It certainly won't last that long', but... d'you know, I actually feel the side-quests are interesting once you get to them, and the story is engrossing, and you don't really feel the time go by. I'm on Chapter 12 just now, so apparently 'close to the end', but I've never enjoyed myself more, playing a FF game.

I have the XBOX version, and the graphics are just stunning to look at. Sure, the PS3 one might run at a higher resolution, but on my 40" HDTV everything looks as it should.

The only thing that lets me down is the summons. Very pretty to look at, but kinda useless.

Anyway, HOT!

The battle system and summons really come into their own when doing the later missions, the difficult enemies you'll encounter require a lot of tactical thinking when it comes to choose your paradigms and party members. The battle system truly is excellent when used properly, it'll be tough going back to old-school RPGs.

Actually, I looked at a comparison article which said that despite the lower texture quality on the 360, the difference was only noticeable in some scenery and character models looked just as good. The only thing that was noticeably worse (but still good) was the full motion videos, which are just more greatly compressed on the 360.

No, we weren't "shafted". Did you want a six-DVD game? No, didn't think so. They tried their hardest to make the port work. The optical media was their limitation and they compensated, and did a pretty fine job.

saw this in cheltenham store last nite was gonna post 2day lol

Good price, terrible game
#17
Awful game, and if it was £14.99 I would not buy it again, 8 hours I played it and could not stand any more of the same boring repetitive nonsense, have played every FF since VII and this is by far and away the most boring linear pile of cack I have seen, very dissapointed.

But as this is the cheapest I will vote hot.

As you've played it 8 hours you've made it far past the tutorials and into the game proper which is not repetitive cack unless you don't like RPGs at all. You're meant to be using Paradigm Shift and finding enemies weaknesses to kill them as quickly as possible to get more points to learn more skills rather than spamming Auto-Battle. If you're doing that and still finding it boring I don't know what to say :? The game only gets better and better after the 8 hour mark, I'm glad I gave it a second chance. They should have kept the tutorial and intros brief but Square doesn't know the meaning of the word... :(

thx op for posting this havent really liked the games since ff7 but at this price im going to give it a go.
banned#21
I too found it incredibly repetitive and sent it back after 3-4 hours gameplay.

Grr paid 40 from Sainsburys and hated it and couldn't persuade them to take it back or find anyone to sell it too for a decent price!

Don't understand why the computer does all the fighting for you? Surely the dice-rolling, turn-taking and organisation was the worst part of playing traditional RPGs - why make such a big feature of it in a game? I just want to smack things, and use my controller to do it...

Corking deal though, heat added, if you like that sort of thing..
