[Edited 16/2 to reflect Shopto's revised description]
The newly announced Super Elite Bundle for Final Fantasy XIII. Most places (Amazon, Play, Game) listed at £250.

Final Fantasy XIII Super Elite Bundle

Xbox 360 Elite is equipped with a premium white finish and like all Xbox 360 systems, comes with three powerful core processors, full surround sound, and DVD playback with upscaling capabilities right out of the box. The huge 250GB detachable hard drive is the largest available on any console. It lets you save your games and store television shows, movies, music, pictures, trailers, extra game levels, demos, and other content available from Xbox LIVE Marketplace. The sleek white finish of the high-performance wireless controller matches the style of the Elite Console. It has a range of up to 30 feet and a battery life of 30 hours on two AA batteries (sold separately).

* Xbox 360 Elite Console: The console is equipped with 2 white wireless controllers and white Xbox LIVE headset. It also comes with three powerful core processors, 16:9 cinematic aspect ratio, anti-aliasing for smooth textures, full surround sound, and DVD playback with upscaling capabilities right outof the box.
* Xbox 360 250GB Hard Drive: The huge 250GB detachable hard drive allows gamers to save their games and store television shows, movies, music, pictures, trailers, extra game levels, demos and other content available from Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Also sold separately.
* 2 x Xbox 360 Wireless Controller (white): The sleek black finish of this high-performance wireless controller matches the style of the Elite Console. It has a range of up to 30 feet and a battery life of 30 hours on two AA batteries. Also sold separately.

CVG also has a description here: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=234709 mentioning some bonus avatar stuff, which don't seem to be confirmed anywhere else.

Both Game and Gameplay are selling this for £250, but they do offer a limited final fantasy faceplate if that floats your boat for £25 - and does offer a better degree of cusotmisation than the limited edition does by itself.

Whether the game lives up to its predecessors remains to be seen.

Edit: When they say 'signature metallic detailing', what they actually mean is that it says 'Final Fantasy' on the shiny bit of the hard drive - not earth shattering exactly. See http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-xiii-special-edition-xbox-360-bundle/#2701079 for images.

Isn't that what normally makes up a Super Elite?

I haven't been able to follow the variations in XBox hardware - I went from a 20gb Pro to an Arcade with my old hard drive stuck on. It's the additions that define them now - headset, hard drive size, HDMI cables, rather than the big lump of Xbox in the middle.

So yeah it's an arcade with a 250GB hard drive. They didn't even bother for a special painting like the MW2 super elite

+£17-20 for the extra white controller. and i don't think you can get a £50 official 250GB xbox 360 hard drive drive. But still I believe it's a ripoff as well :P

This is sad because the PS3 one looks awsome.

is there a Final Fantasy special PS3 slim?

edit: found it http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/16/unboxing-the-final-fantasy-xiii-limited-edition-ps3/

indeed it looks awesome
#12
Why do people keep saying this is over priced? To buy an elite, an extra controller and FF13 you are looking at £250+. You're paying less than this and getting 130gig more space.
#13
250gb official hard drives seem to retail for around £90-100. Arcade £100, additional wireless controller £18 (ish), Final Fantasy XII - £35 = £243-253. Plus you get cables and headset and all from the same place at the same time without extra hassle.

They've definitely missed a trick by limiting the customisation to a rather pointless piece of branding on the hard drive, but it's still cheaper than getting the individual component parts and cheaper than other retailers by £20 or so.

The PS3 special edition - which would encourage me to finally get one - is limited to Japan only.

I don't actually think you can buy the 250gig hard drives which is what makes the 250gig elites 'limited' edition.
#15
you can buy the 250 gig oficail hd seperate for about 82.50 - posted here on Hd somewhere

It comes with a FFXIII faceplate. There's a link to pics in the OP's deal post. (EDIT - I think it does anyway!)

On ShopTo's site it says that the console, controller etc. are black. Might be an idea to check what you're actually getting before placing an order.
#17
It's a limited edition in its own right, no other elites out there are white right now lol. No other official 250GB drives will have a grey finish! ;-)

Marketing that bundle as a "super elite" makes me want to cry. There's nothing limited about it, when you can go and put that Final Fantasy-branded HDD on any 360 and it automatically makes it into this "super elite" FF bundle.

The worst part is, Microsoft have the only FF console bundle outside of Japan. And it's looking like Microsoft will be the only ones advertising it on the TV. Great. I don't know what I hate more. The fact that Microsoft will be marketing Final Fantasy, a brand synonymous with Sony, as an exclusive to them, or the fact that Sony don't seem to care enough to do anything about it.

Worst part is Square should of never fallen out with nintendo and sold its soul out to Sony.
What are you ten years old?

Does it really matter who is going to market the game aslong as you can purchase it on a system you own. Fact is the PS3 version is going to be better, so if you own a sony and are happy get it for that like me.

even if i didnt have a PS3 or xbox I probably wouldn't get a branded console as its not my thing.

Indifferent about the price.

Fact is the PS3 version is going to be better,

the fanboys are here.

seems a good price for the official 250gb bundle; and the slightly underwhelming ffxii branding.

if you're in the market at the moment, my advice fwiw would be to plump for one of the excellent 120gb deals around at the moment and add a separate ffxii which is bound to surface around the £30 mark

lots cheaper and my experience is that although the extra hd space is nice, hardly necessary with the current feature set of the 360.
#21
Just want to point out that this is a different colour to a normal 360. It's "Pure white" whereas a 360 is more of a cream colour.

Maybe getting too picky, but it's the old "Pro" with a 250GB HDD on the top rather than an Arcade - only by the fact the disk drive has silver plastic on the end of the tray rather than white plastic from the Arcade.

Disappointing they didn't do a custom job of the whole thing - faceplate, side panels, themed controllers etc.

I'm currently stuck in the limbo area of having a 20GB Pro but needing a larger harddrive, unwilling to pay the over inflated price for a standalone harddrive, and buying a new Elite and selling my old console ends up about the same expense
#23
Great time to jump on the xbox train. So many awesome games this year
#24
If ShopTo don't offer the faceplate, I'll order with GAME instead. It's only a little bit extra when you take into account Quidco & £12.50 reward points
#25
arcades do not output 1080p it out puts 1080i .............

arcades do not have a silver disk tray either ..................

id say this is just the old pro or edition the one they discontinued, with a bigger hard drive........

swap with the elite, the old 20gbs are rrod waiting to happen its not if but when...........

with the elite its less likely to happen and plus u will have additional warranty........

Points to consider :

(1) You cant buy the 250gb OFFICIAL HDD seperately they are only available as part of SE bundles. Most of the ones on ebay are hacked and not official so are at risk of being banned in further updates.

Additionally this one has a white case to match the console.

(2) ITS NOT AN ARCADE CONSOLE FFS.

Standard 360 is cream not pure white plus the arcade doesnt have a silver bezel. So yes this does have a limited edition case which is a different colour to those produced before. As for the comments on decals well sometimes more is less the RE 360 is one of the most popular Limited editions and its just red with no decals so whats the difference here other than this console has the latest improved hardware ?

(3) People collect these things look at the prices of the MW2 SE, RE Red console etc. Halo limited edition. They all hold there value much better than vanilla standard xbox consoles.

People need to grow up, fine you prefer ps3 blah blah blah. At least post acurate information, if you are going to post at all. Rate the deal not what you think of the company or based on being in love with Sony.

Just to be clear these will have the latest Jasper Elite hardware in them before people start talking crap about that as well.

:? All 360s have the same dashboard software when you connect to Live and update, meaning all 360s are capable of outputting 1080P should your TV support it.

no im 100% sure iv read soomwhere arcades and the pro consoles only output upto 1080i

where as the elite can do 1080p.............

Thanks.

Not sure about the comments that this is an xbox ARCADE - it's not. It's an ELITE - done in white as some others have commented. I.e. it has a HDMI interface, and comes with the ELITE bundle extras.

The main reason I will be getting the game on PS3=comes on a SINGLE bluray disk. (a dual layer 50GB disk). The xbox version of the game comes on 4 DVD disks. Last time I did Final Fantasy disc swaps was on PS1!

Otherwise graphically both versions seem very consistent, which cant be said for the Bayonetta farce...
#32
I am a:
1. MW2 Bundle owner
2. Waiting for this game with baited breath :)

IMHO a disappointing branding Op (seeing as one of the main points of this game isstunning visuals), they couldve made this a thing of beauty :(

No doubt on lauch it will be on offer around the £235 price on Play / Amazon etc in the same vein as the not-to-well received Forza Super Elite.

Not voting, but kudos to the OP for digging out the deal.

1. All 360's now have a HDMI interface
2. What are the " elite bundled extras" nowadays? 120Gb doesnt count as this is a 250Gb, and the extra controller isnt in the standard elite package, and the HDMI / component cables are gone. That leaves the headset and ethernet cable......wow :whistling:
2. Re: Disc swaps.... whats the alternative for the 360, ship out free HD-DVD drives and ships it on that? Not saying it isnt annoying, (install to disc will be interesting) but as DVD is the standard format there isnt really any choice....
#34
duplicate post :(

Wow, there's some serious mis-information in this thread !

But that's exactly what the Elite (with a smaller drive) and Super Elite are !

The "old" Pro and the current "Arcade" and the "Elite" are all exactly the same - the only thing that differs between them is the Colour and Hard Drive Size.
All XBox 360s now include an HDMI port and a Wireless Controller.
Noz
arcades do not output 1080p it out puts 1080i...

All XBox 360s can output 1080p - via Component, and HDMI if they're equipped with an HDMI port.

To sum up : It doesn't matter one jot which XBox makes up the bundle - they're all exactly the same ! Today's packages differ only in colour, drive size, and bundled gubbins (ie, the Arcade doesn't include a headset).
#36
why argue if its a pro or elite?
at this price their both gonna be inferior to ps3's hardware.

plus the game isnt a big sucess so far.
#37
never heard of this game is it any good? :whistling:
#38
I might actually buy a PS3 if they brought out a limited edition FF13 version like thy have for xbox

was that serious or sarcasm?

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/12/16/unboxing-the-final-fantasy-xiii-limited-edition-ps3/

That's ACTUALLY a limited edition console, not just a bundle, although I dunno if its coming out in the UK. :(

PS3 is also getting FFXIII Versus and FFXIV!! Especially since FFXIII hasn't come out to amazing reviews and acclaim it's woth getting a PS3 just for the chance of a decent FFXIII (Versus) and not having to change disks and listen to the DVD drive that sounds like an aeroplane. :whistling:

How can a game be a "big success" before it's released
