Now players can enjoy all the strategy and flexibility of a turn-based system, along with the visceral thrill of an action game.
•Turn the Tide of Battle with Paradigms: A brand-new game mechanic known as the Paradigm System enables players to assign roles to their party members at any time during battle. •Unleash Devastation with Enhanced Summoning: Introducing Gestalt Mode: an exhilarating take on Final Fantasy's trademark summon system that elevates the action to a whole new level. In Gestalt Mode, the player uses simple button commands to unleash the combined might of the characters and their transformed Eidolons, inflicting massive damage to any who stand in their way.
•Lose Yourself in the Drama: An immersive storyline draws the player ever closer to a cast of intriguing characters. Will they have the strength to face their fate, or are they doomed to destroy everything they love?

For those that have both consoles, I hear the PS3 version is superior to the 360 version of this game.

I've played both - the PS3's video's definately look better, but not that much better than 360. Saying that 75% of the game is watching video's so it may be a problem to some. For me, the video on the 360 was perfectly acceptable.

Final Fantasy rewrites the book on RPG every time, graphics and gameplay have depth which many millions of gamers understand. The Word Rubbish is one that goes with this game. I like to thank Hotukdeals for this excellent gem of purchase...The PS3 Version of its way.....140 hours of gaming on its way...

140 hours of tedium! I managed about 25 hours of it before accepting that it wasn't going to get any better. I thought the battle system was brilliantly designed, perfect for long, drawn-out strategic battles. Unfortunately, the game is nothing but short, easy, mindless battles with the occasional linear corridor and cut scene in between.

Woeful game. Just glad that I didn't have to pay anything for it.

Easily the best Final Fantasy game I've played (and i've played them all)

They finally nailed the battle system, its perfect!

Storyline is great, very slow start though and I can see a lot of people being put off. It's like a great novel with a really difficult dull first few chapters. But once you break the spine of it its addictive, you'll play it until the end.

It it more linear than say 7 and 8 but this is not necessarily a bad thing.. worth £40.. definitely worth £10

I enjoyed the game very well. Loved Sazh. The battle system was also very good. Great deal.

Wouldn't even buy for £1. Sorry, Final Fantasy has never taken my fantasy. I'm sure this is a good deal for fans, but not for me. Hot nonetheless.

Serious, you must be trolling? This game was more or less beaten by holding up on the dpad and spamming A, occasionally sitting back to watch some bland cutscenes with characters you didnt really care about. Not just a slow start, slow EVERYTHING. Battle system was awful, it ended up the best way to kill anything was to buff/debuff and chain (zzzz) and you had no say in how to customise your chars.

WORST FF game ever, not best.

This is not a game for everyones taste and it does take a lot of effort to get through the 25 hours of what is essentially tutorials but it is worth every penny for £9.95 (even less after Quidco and if you have a Walkers voucher).

I really enjoyed it.

Bought this on the day of release, and clocked about 80 hrs of play so far - you can crack on with the story mode without the worry of missing sidequests/achievements and finish it in about 15 hrs maybe, but the game will let ya keep on going afterwards (from the last save point in a 'New Game +' type thing).

I think I was dissapointed because it was a Final Fantasy game, and I tend to build up in my head what a Final Fantasy game should be, and it never lives up to what I expect. The game is very linear, and the brilliant battle system is wasted on the main story mode. There are some tough challenges if you're planning on 100%'ing the game where it comes into play and is of more importance, but yeah I think I would have to agree with Berial when he says spamming A will get you through most of the battles, especially if you've synthesized yourself an Ultimate Weapon early on.

The story was pretty good, looking back on it. But now that it's finished and all I've got left to do is the side missions, I'm left kinda unmotivated. I reckon I need to plug another 60hrs into it to get everything collected/defeated/leveled-up, and that's not something I can bring myself to do when there is so many other games I wanna play. So yeah: 140 hrs of gameplay, but at least 100 of those hours will be spent grinding!

back to the deal: great price. it's a really good game, but just not a really good Final Fantasy game.

It's a good game as long as you can get past how linear it is. I actually liked the story and characters. Got a bit bored after 25 hours though- might go back to it one day.

Battle system is good, but there are too many easy fights where all you have to do is hammer A

Have had this on my shelf unopened for the past 6 months because I keep putting other games on before it!

Comments range from best game in the series to the worst in this thread! Will get round to it some day, just unsure when!!!!

Heat added for the deal though :)

Without a doubt the worst EVER final fantasy game. I own every playstation fantasy game, it was the release of this game earlier this year that made me finally go out and buy a PS3. I literaly play the games to death, over and over again. Still get 7 out occasionaly for a quick retro bash.

Played this one for 2 weeks and has never been back in the console since, doubtfull it ever will.

Awful story, lousy characters, pig of a battle system, too short, too linear, too bad....

Was hoping for the release of additional content that might save the game but i believe that has been shelved.

You would be better spending your cash on one of the ps1 titles in the playstation store.

Should be a fantastic deal, but crap for a tenner?

good deal, but there are much better rpgs out there. all of the early n mid battles are quite easy, just bash X and youll win xD

Ordered over 2 weeks ago, yet to recieve copy. Had an email saying they're trying to get hold of it from their suppliers, if it's so hard why are they still accepting orders for it.
