Seems good to me, have some heat

Great price, site says it includes 2 controllers.
I could take or leave the game but the extra controller is a bonus.

If this gets hot there will doubtless be a slim vs fat debate!

I would like to know why this would be better than the slim, genuinely i am not a real gamer but want a xbox i know that the previous ones had broblems. Question is should i buy this or go for the slim

The main difference with this and the slim is purely in looks. Your getting a 250gb xbox for the same price as the 4gb. The slim can work power kinect by itself to use a kinect with this console you have to have the kinect plugged in separately (not a big deal but who needs more wires.) These are more prone to RROD than slims but they were the final generation of the old design so it should be ok and like someone else said three year warranty so shouldn't trouble you. The slim will run quieter and that is an advantage. Game wise there identical once you take the casing off they'll be identical inside. Hope this helps.

Can anyone help with what else I need to purchase.....

Son has Xbox 360 arcade? (old white one with detachable hard drive). Can we just plug the HD into this one for immediate use, what do we do long term re moving anything he has on the old HD to the new one? Thanks in advance.

Yes your sons existing hard drive should work fine in this one. This is essentially the same as your sons xbox it just comes with a fancy paint job and a bigger hard drive. For transferring data you have 2 options. Buy a transfer cable which connects one hard drive to the other and sends the data across. It moves the data it does not copy it once it is moved it is gone from the other drive. Or if you have a 4,8, or 16gb usb stick you can plug that into a usb port on the xbox move data from the hard drive to the usb stick plug the other hard drive in to the xbox and move it across. This does take a while but shouldn't be to bad if your just moving profiles and games saves as there quite small. Any arcade games downloaded and be re-downloaded for free from the same profile that downloaded them originally.

I would say keep trying. Twice I got the 'we cannot add this product as it is out of stock' or similar. Once I got to payment and it said my basket was empty, but on the fourth or fifth attempt I managed to pay.

EDIT - I have just tried again and got to the payment page, so looks like they are there....

The other difference between this and the slim is this doesn't have built in wireless for connecting to Xbox live. An adaptor will set you back about £50.

The wireless on the slim is pants. We have both and reverted to the hotplug thing.

Could have done with this. It was giving me the option to buy and then suddenly banged onto stock alert and out of stock. Always see these deals after I come home from work and never on a day off. :-(

The slim also consumes less power & emits less heat as the CPU & GPU are on a single chip (Codename: Vejle).

The chipset in this version of the 360 isn't really prone to RRoD, so you should be fine. (Codename Jasper)
