Several years in the making, Final Fantasy XIII is a testament to the sheer production value Square Enix puts into its flagship RPG series. A labour of love for almost everyone in the company, this instalment in the franchise takes equal inspiration from its last game, Final Fantasy XII and decade-old classics such as Final Fantasy VII. Starring a female character called Lightning, the game is set in the future where the world is divided into two significant areas - Cocoon, a paradise high in the sky which knows only peace and prosperity; and Pulse, the dark, dingy and dangerous lower world. Long ago mankind was blessed with the presence of the fal'Cie, who decided to watch and protect over the world. However, peace and tranquility on Cocoon was not to last.'

Nice price!! HOT

Blimey... Ive never seen a Final Fantasy's value drop so low after such a short time.

Perhaps i was right to boycott this game, although at this price i may just have to see what all the hype wasnt about.
#3
Same here. At this price it's worth a go.

Its abit tedious but the story is brilliant and the game overall is good. The depth is kinda odd; its not alot of different combinations or anything but its mainly about battle stances and stuff. Gets really tough ive been stuck for a while now :\
#5
Story is good but the battle system is terrible. Lost Odyssey is a better RPG IMO

Good price though

Have they added DLC onto xbox live yet? I heard somewhere DLC would be on its way?
#7
send this crap to the bargain bin quickly.

Considering theyre making Final Fantasy 13 across all 3 platforms, as well as 2 more PSP games, its extremely unlikely.

Also, if you have a PS3, just get it on that off ebay cheap, its vastly superior to the toned down non-HD version on 360. I played it on 360 to death, and decided to buy it on PS3 to complete again, and its just gorgeous. The visuals were very lackluster on the 360, and the poor resolution cut scenes annoyed me a bit, where as so far the higher res, higher res textures, and full HD cutscenes are nothing short of breathtaking at times.

I'm not saying this to start some console war bullcrap, I'm just suggesting a way to save money ;)

Afterall, many people made the horrendous mistake of buying Bayonetta for the PS3, and look how that turned out...

Unfortunately, I haven't got a PS3 :|. Is this game as bad as people make it out to be? Is it frustrating, is it too difficult? Does it require alot of grinding? It got an 8.5 at GS and user reviews gave it a little higher yet, I always hear how crap this game is?

I think if you don't have a PS3 you'll still enjoy the game and won't be worried about that fact that the PS3 version is better, in exactly the same way that if you only have a PS3 you don't worry that 360 versions are better.

I have this game on the ps3, its so crap I stopped playing. It has horrid actors, horrid story, horrid gameplay, theres nothing to like about this game at all. The characters are so annoying, only the black actor is any good and likeable. The gamplay is lacking and too easy.

Sad I bought this garbage at £17.99, feel sorry for the poor suckers who paid full price, must be like going to your own funeral.

Hmm characters are just as bad as FFXII, story is rather lacking compared to other FFs, battle system is pretty much "change, x, change, x, change, x", an obscene amount of grinding, especially for trophies, most linear FF ever (only one open area pretty much). The only good qualities are the graphics and getting themes after unlocking trophies (which was a great touch I thought, more games should add extras with trophy unlocks, like wallpapers / themes / music etc) other than that, for £12 it's a decent price to see how this great company has fallen.

There's been a lot of hatred aimed at Square Einx by fans recently and it's all unfounded. It just seems to be the trendy thing to do at the moment, as more and more people bash there games and promote Bioware instead.

IMO this is a really good rpg and a must have for any 360 fan. Get it now before it goes out of print!

Sorry i've never played a FF game before and I think this is crap if this is their best, its just crap and boring and a boring story with pop star jpop characters thrown in , it really is that bad without any redeeming features at all. I found Blue Dragon more fun and interesting.

This is just some **** I feel i've blown £17.99 on.

Oh it's not their best by far (and I hope to god no FF fan has said it was, if so they have strange taste.), the best works were made by Squaresoft, they've been going downhill since the merge.
But the bashing isn't unfounded, it's genuine crap. But bioware is no better, openly bashing jrpgs and square enix for having the same games over and over.

Fixed. Not a truer word has been spoken.

If people have started to say Lost Oddesy and Blue Dragon are good RPG's then the genre is truly dead
#18
It's a good price for a good game.
Not the best FF, but not the worst.

Thankyou for being one of the most rationally thought people in this thread. Final Fantasy 13 is a far better game than any of the others mentioned in this thread. £12 for a decent RPG that came out earlier in the year is riduclously good value, as others have stated. This needs to be way hotter.

This is because the game is crap £12 isnt good value, and probably other RPGs are better, this is how you play the game Auto battle, Autobattle -> Chance Stance for heal-> auto battle auto battle -> change stance for heal - Autobattle move to next boring cut scene with crying whinging Jpop teens and lots of anguish and saying stupid things.

Really this game is trash of the highest level and has little spark of charm or originality, something that was in Blue Dragon at least with its charming land and toy story like graphics.

Plus Akira Toriyama, I really should play that game, it's pennies now.
But FFXIII moves away from traditional JRPGs and goes into a league of it's own, removes towns and interactions, adds a long road and a bunch of fights. You don't even have to fight anymore.
I don't know why they decided to go for this route (apart from the difficulty of creating towns... lost odyssey didn't have a problem with that, huh.) but maybe this is just their attempts at changing FF for the cod generation.

Remember this game is Final Fantasy and has some of the BEST GRAPHICS seen on any console before it. The story is great, with cut scenes far more intense and complex than Metal Gear Solid. The gameplay is exciting and overall this is a great game. Haters please find something else better to do.

I agree with the intensity of cutscenes being superior to MGS, if intensity is quantity.
It doesn't have haters for no reason, we're here to give our opinion of this terrible game.
Great price, bad game.
If you want a 50 hour walk down a long road, grinding, having a convoluted plot (and terrible compared to previous FF games) unlikable characters (hey look another point an RPG should have, good characters) then give it a lookie.

uh I dont care, I give you the honest user opinion, which 1000s of other players have expressed, and not the opinion of game reviewers who accept cash hats and dont finish games.

naitsirk, thanks for the list, it was most educational but it still doesn't prove Final Fantasy 13 was a bad game. While it's not as revered as some of the games before it, as seen on your list, the critics still favoured it very, very well. Infact if it wasn't for the Edge Score of 5/10, the game would have ranked somewhere in the middle of your list. Anyway, thats my 2 cents over, others will have to decide for themselves over whether Final Fantasy is worthy of their money.
