The series is defined by constant evolution, with each release delivering nothing less than the finest creative vision, graphical quality and gameplay system of its generation. Needless to say, Final Fantasy XIII is no exception.

In Final Fantasy XIII, players will embark on an awe-inspiring journey through the floating cityworld of Cocoon and the savage lowerworld of Pulse, encountering a diverse band of would-be allies along the way. With seamless transitions between real-time gameplay and in-game cinematics, and an evolved Active Time Battle system offering a perfect harmony of spectacular action and strategy, this is an adventure unlike any other. Do you have the courage to face your destiny?

A New Fantasy Begins: Embark on an adventure beyond your wildest dreams - packed with breathtaking environments to explore, unique allies to befriend, and awe-inspiring enemies to conquer.

An Audio-Visual Benchmark: Harnessing the power of The Crystal Tools graphics engine, Final Fantasy XIII pushes the boundaries of high-definition cinematic presentation, sound and gameplay.

A Unity of Speed and Strategy: The familiar Active Time Battle system has evolved, granting players the freedom to execute numerous commands in a single turn in real-time. Now players can enjoy all the strategy and flexibility of a turn-based system, along with the visceral thrill of an action game.

Turn the Tide of Battle with Paradigms: A brand-new game mechanic known as the Paradigm System enables players to assign roles to their party members at any time during battle. By switching between a variety of roles - including Commando and Medic - players can respond instantly to the needs of an ever-changing battlefield, adapting their strategy to ensure victory.

Unleash Devastation with Enhanced Summoning: Introducing Gestalt Mode: an exhilarating take on Final Fantasy's trademark summon system that elevates the action to a whole new level. In Gestalt Mode, the player uses simple button commands to unleash the combined might of the characters and their transformed Eidolons, inflicting massive damage to any who stand in their way.

Lose Yourself in the Drama: An immersive storyline draws the player ever closer to a cast of intriguing characters. Will they have the strength to face their fate, or are they doomed to destroy everything they love?

Maybe when its in the 99p bin, then at least I'd be able to tie it on some string to scare the birds away from the garden.

If you like games that take over 10 hours to actually get fun then by all means buy it, but damn this game is boring. Also, dont buy it for 360, doesnt play in full HD, has significantly lower res cut scenes (which count for around 80% of the game btw), and the graphics for everything but the main characters are less than average.

Say what you like, but this game turned out on 360 like what bayonetta did for PS3. Just a generally poor port.

Oh and did I forget to mention the 3 discs on 360? LOL

wait no longer!! PS3 owner (not fanboy) comes in! Yes Bluray is obviously the way forward when it comes to gaming! I can see why the xbox version of FF13 will drop in price quicker, the poster above has obviously named most of the flaws.

As for the game, I like it, not a lot but i like it. I am about 40 hours into the game (part of it was me level grinding to say) and it's getting better. The first 9 chapters are pretty much storyline based, and you are forced into a team for characters which you cannot change, and also to follow 1 single route. Luckily for me I like the story and that's what kept me going!

The developers really should have made a little more effort into making the game more fun for the first part of the game. It got a little boring, but now i can actually explore a little and do some side quest.

I agree. I might have actually played it through if it was in any way engaging at the start. My first 5 hours of play felt like one drawn out cutscene too. I might just have to make do with FF 1 and 2 for iphone for the time being :-D

I do hear that the cut scenes are much better on PS3. And, yes, it's clearly better that the PS3 version comes on one disc rather than three. But what makes you a 'pathetic PS3 fanboi' is that you think that this is LOL FUNNY!!! rather than just useful information.

From experience, if people usually mention the words "PS3" "superior" and "xbox" in the same sentence usually calls for a flaming.

yeah when xbox and ps3 go head to head wars start man! I just go with the flow now, i am not a interested all the geeky statistics of both the machines. The reason i got the ps3 was because it can play bluray, also i loved the ps2 so why not

Back to ff13, for the first few hours i think i got through all the battles but just pressing x constantly, even if i didn't to!

I can't. The price is largely based on how well the game is selling and the 360 version is currently sitting above the PS3 version in this week's Chart-Track UK games charts. All of the Guitar Hero games are sub-HD on the PS3, for example, while being 720p on the 360, but nobody waffles on about how the PS3 versions will be discounted quicker. It just doesn't work like that. If the 360 version had bombed in sales, then yeah, but it obviously hasn't in the UK.

I wasn't referring to the HD content, but more so the 3 disc's compared to 1.

out of choice, if someone had both the ps3 and xbox, they would choose the ps3 version simply for this reason. Maybe the xbox is more popular in the UK and hence more sales have been generated. Only time will tell i guess :)

Betamax > all :p

Seriously: I own both a PS3 and a 360 - the problem is that the PS3 is in the Living Room, which means I have to take my turn to use it. Is the 360 version much worse?

No, not at all. The Xbox 360 version is great and looks fantastic

The director himself said theres no difference apart from the FMV

You're gonna get more people saying its a bad game because of the 360 typical fan. Its just not suited for the console.

Saying that, this is an awesome deal and the differences are only minimal if you dont care about the lower resolutions.

The reason doesn't matter to retailers. If I owned a shop and the 360 version was selling better than the PS3 version, I wouldn't cut the price of the 360 version. I'd cut the price of either the PS3 version or both versions.

As for 3 discs compared to 1, you are doing 2 disc swaps throughout the course of 60 hours or more. Better quality cut scenes is a more compelling reason to get the PS3 version, rather than having to get up twice - once every 20 odd hours - to swap a disc over. That's just trivial. If you were constantly getting up to swap between the discs, then fine, but you're not.

LOL! Oh, you're actually serious........

Console wars. How sad. Stop whining about the platforms. As stated above there is almost no difference other than the FMVs, which by the way still look fantastic. The number of discs is inevitable since the game is many gigabytes in size. I'm getting a funny mental image of what you must be like if you view a disc change every twenty hours or so as a major hassle.

Anyway, discuss the game, not the platforms or the differences between versions. In my opinion, it isn't as good as the previous Final Fantasy titles but it is well worth buying. I think the best RPG for the 360, and one of the best this generation completely, is Lost Odyssey.

I have both and did not know about the difference when I've got the game so as usual I went for the XBOX 360 version.

The 3 discs option I think in a way is an advantage, because potentially 3 people could be playing in 3 different XBOXs at the same time. As long as each has a saved game at different stages. Also you probably are going to install the game to your hard drive anyway.

I am quite please with the XBOX version, I do play at 1080p.

I agree with the people here about the first chapters limiting what you can or can't do, but if you get into the Story then you probably enjoy it.

I think the game is great.

agreed Lost Odyssey was an awesome JRPG

Have got it for the Xbox, it still looks fantastic. Can't compare to the PS3, but it's made out that it looks terrible. It may be worse than the PS3, but it's still amazing graphically.

Takes about 18 gig of space if installing to the HD apparently.
