* Classes: Choose a path on which to embark-the Discipline of War, the Discipline of Magic, the Discipline of the Land or the Discipline of the Hand-and then select any of various classes of that path with which to make your way in the world.
* Community Play: Achieve goals impossible for any individual: vanquish hideous fiends, tame the wilderness, build a trading empire. Take on various roles in the organisation and support your partners even while offline.
* Auto-Translate Feature: This in-game tool allows players with different linguistic backgrounds the ability to engage in conversation, bridging the gap between cultures and making cross-region gaming a reality.
* The Armoury System: Change classes by simply equipping a different weapon or tool. Spend an hour hunting bounties as a gladiator. Spend another baking in the kitchens as a culinarian. Develop your character however you wish: anyway, anytime, anywhere.
* Guildleves: Undertake missions known as levequests, a wide assortment of activities that change daily. How many you accept-alone or with friends-and how long you quest are entirely up to you. Determine a style of adventuring based on your terms.

Final Fantasy XIV PC Standard Edition pre-orders will include a pair of Garlond Goggles, an exclusive in-game item that increases the speed of skill progression.
For those who had registered their Final Fantasy XIII Campaign Codes, it will be possible to apply this code to the Windows PC version of Final Fantasy XIV. The users will receive a pair of Asuran Armguards, an exclusive in-game item that will enhance the effectiveness of the player’s equipped arm or tool.

Please note, once you register your reward code to your Square Enix account, all new characters that you create from then on will receive the in-game item. Characters created before you link the reward code to your Square Enix account, however, will not receive the item.

Good price, I just bought it (pre-order) for £24 last weekend.
Been playing it in beta, great game.. only 2 drawbacks.
1 - Need a really nice pc to run it.
2 - Game is very complicated, will take weeks to fully understand it.

I'm getting incredibly frustrated with the whole beta process, it's like something from the dark ages.
By the time I get to log in and play it will have ended!

I setup and registered an account in advance. Tried to apply to the beta, eventually discover that my original account details are completely irrelevant and I now need an enix account. Can't use the same name as my first account. Get a code. Log in to Enix. Add a service account. Confirm a service account. Go to email, follow link to beta login. Endless attempts and nothing happens, not even a failure notice.

What the hell is this convoluted nonsense? The benchmark tool actually looked very pretty (albeit windowed), but it's looking increasingly unlikely that I won't be signing up to play this.

Also noticed tesco are selling the Collectors Edition, gives 1 week early access + extras for £36.97, most places are still £40+ and if you use the Voucher code: FTSL15-1 drops it down to £31.43

good price but i played this for a couple of hours and it honestly felt like a copypasta of Final Fantasy XI which i find a really rubbish for a mmorpg.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall in a "preorder crap" meeting.

"Hmm what ridiculous piece of crap can we include in this game?"
- Night vision goggles?
- Toy Car?
- sadomasochistic sex toy glasses?

Good find! canceled my play.com pre-order to order this!

Game is gonna suck you can only gain experience for 8 hours a week after that you gain NO experience. Basically you can only play for 8 hours a week so there servers don't get overloaded so they can cheap out on servers. Don't waste your money. Didn't vote as it's probably a good deal but unfair to vote cold just because it's a terrible game...

Players earn XP at 100% for the first 8 hours.

For 7 hours over this limit the XP received decreases to 0%.

The time limit for the playtime counter to reset is 1 week.

The XP gain limit is not tied to any class/job but is per character.

Drops and loot are not affected by the XP “fatigue.”

I don't think it's wise to give people out-dated information. That was in closed beta. Surplus is still there but you won't reach it after 8 hours. You hit it so quick in closed beta because EXP was easier to get, to help with testing. And really, there's nothing to stop you playing more than one class. Where's the fun in playing one class and rushing to the level cap within a week? They had two choices:

A) Limit how much EXP a class can earn in a week.
B) Raise EXP requirements so it takes longer to reach next level.

At the end of the day they work out the same, but B just means more time grinding whereas A means more time playing other parts. It's a good design mechanic if done right, but people will just see surplus and not think why it's there.

With A I can enjoy levelling CNJ, THM, CRP, ALC and BOT without having to worry about keeping up with the people who would rush to the cap with gimped gear as happened in XI at NA release.

If you think the game sucks because of it, that's fine. No need for you to play it.

Awesome deal by the way. I pre-ordered the collector's edition from Tesco Entertainment months ago though. I just hope they deliver on release day. Looking at the Halo thread it seems to be a mix between some getting it early, some on release day and some late.
