Dread to think how bad the picture quality will be. Just remember when your buyoing a TV you are buying something that you will be spending a lot of time staring at. Buy cheap buy twice

sorry but i don't agree with you. About 6 month's ago i brought a 37" ELEONEX LCD TV which is not a recognised make and it's brilliant! ;-). i guess you could say don't judge a book (TV) by it's cover (PRODUCT NAME) lol

Sounds like you're assuming this would be the main TV, would this not be great for a small kitchen, kids room or something?

Yes, I think we would have known what you meant without the bracketed explanation thanks. ;-)

Bit like a vegetarian on a meat recipe website - being on this site is going to waste a lot of your time then - most of the threads on this site are little else BUT offers of the cheapest products!

Actually i picked up a great deal on my Panasonic Plasma and an Onkyo receiver from this site.

Finlux used to be a top level brand before about 1990, up there just below B&O in terms of fashionable slimness and spec.

Then Nokia took them over and it all went t*ts.

IIRC from other forums they are now owned by Vestel and the TVs are PROBABLY rebadged Beko models - but then so are some Toshiba LCD TVs as well....

I think they've been though Hitachi's hands as well at some stage.

I'm pretty certain they are just a re-badging outfit now, a bit like Grundig are a brand name owned by DSG and Acoustic Solutions is licensed to Argos, despite having (at one time) a very high reputation for their own audio equipment. Similarly Wharfedale TVs have absolutely nothing to do with the speaker manufacturer, other than licencing (Argos again?)

True - but we are all hoping to get a quality brand for a famously bargain price. If Finlux = Finlandia then it is a good and old name brand. No idea if this is so.

Hot, ideal for bedroom, 2nd room TV. Might not be the best pictire but for this price what do you want? The moon on a stick!?

Finux were an excellent brand, back in the day.

They used to sponsor Sheffield Wednesday, back when they were good :)

Finlux isn't/wasn't Finlandia.

Finlandia wasn't a good old brand name - it was Granada Rental's own brand badge, 'trying' to be mistaken for Finlux.

I didn't know they made Televisions in 1888.

Sorry, But empire direct are the worst people to return items to, I purchased a dyson from them 6 months ago and when I got home realised it was the wrong model. I went back with the dyson unopened but they would not give me a full refund, in the end I had to settle for 75% of the value back. BEWARE!!!!

Shame there's no specifications on the site for it....

Anybody got any thoughts on how it compares to this one at SVP?

Spot on. Finlux used to be great till they nearly went pop and Nokia took over. To my knowlegde the brand is just a name bought out by the Turks at Vestel these days. Still, Vestel make some have reasonable stuff. I`m sure this will be fine. Voted Hot.

Grundig is owned by Alba Group plc by the way, not DSG. DSG peddle the awful MATSUI brand.

I got this yesterday - seems very good for the price (although have no other lcd tv to compare it too).

SVP delivered very quick and have always given good service though.

Sorry - I think I meant that Grundig as a brand for TV sets is licensed to DSG - I'm sure I saw that on AVF or somewhere. Could be wrong though!

The strato one has good reviews. My mother-in-law has one and it is a cracking little TV with a good digital tuner - found all channels first and has run perfectly for the last few months. They had tried two stand alone digi-tuners that kept losing channel due to them being in a low reception area. But this TV laughs a poor signals. A very good picture for the price and its looks are not too bad at all

Your talking utter **** you obviously know nothing about lcd tv's In my house we have 3 lcd tv's we jumped on the hd bandwagon years ago we paid £1500 for our first 32inch Panasonic lcd which is still going strong back then lcd's where very expensive and if you paid £700 for your lcd the quality was **** even by today's standards the Panasonic is excellent picture wise we also own a 42inch X series Toshiba and a 47inch Z series Toshiba both of those are 1080p with excellent pictures.

Last week my gran asked me to get her a cheap 19inch lcd for the kitchen so i ordered her a 19inch Polaroid from amazon. When it arrived and i took it out and tried it the picture was excellent crystal clear it had freeview and every connection you could ever want and this cost £159 not £1000 in fact we where that impressed by the Polaroid we ordered a 37inch from amazon for what i think is a great price £339 for the kids room. My mom also has a 19inch Goodman's in the bedroom and the pictures great.

With today's leaps in technology the quality of even the cheapest lcd's is good and at small sizes there isnt or wasnt ever a problem with the picture so as i said you dont know what your talking about if it was cheap 50inch then i would be concerned but not a 19 the picture will be great but id give this a miss and nip round Aldi and get one of there's for £149 with 3years warranty and all the conections and a great picture.
