Go for the 16GB as 8GB will not suffice for long. Also worth looking at getting a refurb item from Warehouse Deals. Good savings for what can just be an open box.

I would just get the 8 gig and buy a memory card as £10 for an extra 8gb is expensive. You could get a 32gb memory card from amazon for a tenner so would bring it to 40gb. Also with the extra £10 off at the moment I would use that to remove the offers and have your own screen saver. I thought it wouldn't bother me seeing the offers but after a while it got on my nerves. Other than that I think it's an amazing little device. How they can sell it for £40 astounds me.

I have one and I mostly like it, but the battery life is shocking. Turning off the notifications and turning down the brightness does help. Also not being able to use chrome on it properly - in that you can't log into it and therefore sync all your bookmarks, is a bit pony.

But still great for the money.

Could someone please recommend alternatives instead up to the value of approx. £100. Thanks in advance

Clearing 'recent apps' helps a lot with the standby battery life but I agree that battery life overall is poor.

I got my son one of these at Christmas. Great little tablet and you can remove the offers and put the Playstore on it. Was only about £30 back then as well.

Good deal but if anyone wanted two you can get them for £34 each from Tesco using an ecoupon for £10 off a £75 spend. Every little helps lol . Also in magenta, blue and tangerine.

Could anyone recommend a good 4g tab or is it better to get a WiFi one and buy a mini thingy - price range upto 200 ish

An sd is nowhere as good as onboard storage on a device like this, they are always slower and there is always issues when trying to move apps to them on these devices. £10 for the extra 8gb of onboard storage is a much better proposition. Unless you are only going to install a couple of apps the 5gb of available space will be used up quickly and the device will be even slower. No reason not to buy an sd if 16gb won't suffice but to recommend the 8gb over the 16gb for the difference of £10 is very bad advice.

Had mine for some time and haven't had a single issue with the 8gb. I actually have a 32gb card in it with absolutely no problems. But hey everyone has their own opinion!! :)

Couldn't agree more. 16Gb is the minimum for me. If you only keep the basic apps and barely use it then you could get away with 8 but even on my phone (Moto 3rd gen 8 gig) it's agonising even with an SD card. if rather spend the extra then get an SD card as well.

I didn't say there was a problem with 8gb.

You obviously fall into the "Unless you are only going to install a couple of apps".

Why reply just for the sake of it without clearly reading the post?

Your advice was poor. The majority of people who have a tablet need more than 5Gb of usable space for apps. You clearly don't which is fine, but advising people to make a poor buying decision based on what suits you isn't what this is about.

A lot of people don't realise that an 8Gb device doesn't have 8gb free for apps and following your advice would buy a device that could be much better for the want of £10.

An sd is not a good substitute for built in storage on any device let alone one based on android 4.4.

I think tablets have pretty much become disposable.

kind of I mean so have laptops really and lots of other electronics - they cost more to repair than to replace generally especially in smaller form factors
