Just ring your local fire brigade and they'll come out and fit you one for free!
#3
They won't just fit one for FREE they will fit as many as it takes to make your home safer, Smoke alarms don't prevent fires though-they give you a very early warning.

it was in swindon, it doubles up as a small home store too

I would imagine they would be the pretty basic ones, which are still good though. But nothing more annoying than toast or cooking setting them off lol
#6
Go to B&Q with the details and you'll get it for the price of £3.97, and then a further 15% off.....
#7
When they say toast proof.....? Is it some sort of challenge? ;-)
#8
heat added, £3.97 could save your life............basic maybe but it works!

No they fitted this same smoke alarm at my house and say that they will replace it in 6 years when the lithium battery is near the end of it's life,

I bought four Fireangel smoke alarms from Tesco about as many months ago. All of them often false alarm and annoyingly usually at night, and one of them with a 10 year battery life has died all together and needs to be returned.

They're good a price but my in my experience they're a case of getting what you pay for.

Cold deal - your local firestation will come along and fit several of these for free if you call them.

Or if you don't want to call, you can do it online:

http://www.fire.gov.uk/Home+safety/IsYourHomeSafe/FreeHomeSafetyCheck.htm

Therefore complete waste of money to buy them!

In my brigade where i fit them we have a 10 year guarantee with these as the battery is a 10 year battery.

Good price but the fire service offer is better as you get a home fire risk assessment and is FREE!!!!

Good price but they're not quality at all.

Please be aware when buying these. I bought the very same ones from B&Q about 12 months ago. Now the batteries need changing a normal 9V doesn't seem to fit well. The battery supplied is noticibly larger than a 9V Duracel battery and one has to put cardboard down the back of the battery to keep it in situ, otherwise it simply falls out. A normal 9V will not fit and will not make a connection. I bought 13 of these for 2 houses and they have all been the same. Easily rectified with cardboard but a poor manufacture fit.

Kindest regards

just simply buy one and stay alive, sod hanging round for free ones, the fire could happen tonight for petes sake !!

If you tell the fire service you don't have them they usually come round straight away, at least we do in Strathclyde...........

Can I just ask you what a good quality detector is to but that has a silence button - need to replcae one at the bottom of out stairs that currently has this option on it - it's close to the kitchen - thats the only reason?

Thanks

To be fair these are OK for the money. I bought four and had to take one back after a few months to Tesco, which inspite of not having a receipt was fairly pain free - apart from the hassle of it.

Our toast proof one has replaced a standard smoke alarm just outside our kitchen which now never goes off (unlike the old one). I think the wife used to use the old one to let her know when the food was done though.

Think this has expired now anyway. Were £10 when I called in over weekend.
