This doesn't appear to be a full blown fire extinguisher but would be useful for small fires. If you are looking for them instore I found them near the lightbulbs and smoke detectors. It has a 5 year shelf life and I got one for home and one for my mum. 414ml can which is only a wee bit bigger than a large can of hairspray.

I think these would be ideal for the kitchen etc, but here is some text from the First Alert website.

First Alert's TUNDRA™ is a fire extinguishing spray that is more effective than a traditional fire extinguisher on most common fires.

TUNDRA™ is effective on:
•Common household fires - TUNDRA™ Fire Extinguishing Spray is able to extinguish common fires such as fabrics, paper, and wood.

•Cooking oil fires - TUNDRA™ Fire Extinguishing Spray is unique in that it is able to extinguish cooking oil fires. The liquid contents create a barrier or “blanket” that rapidly extinguishes the fire.

•Fires involving electrical equipment - TUNDRA™ Fire Extinguishing Spray is effective to use on fires involving electrical equipment of 110/220 volts (e.g. a fire started by a toaster). Independent testing has shown the spray pattern is not electrically conductive at 35,000 volts, even from 10 inches.

Looks really dangerous to me.....a normal sized fire extinguisher is pretty useless on a fire over about 30cm wide so this would be pathetic.

You'd be better spending the time dialling 999 than reaching for one of these.......

I don't think it is dangerous by any stretch of the imagination, using it in the wrong circumstances could be stupid but this is a deals website and this is a great deal and personally I think it is well worth £2.

Like people fires come in all shapes and sizes. Personally I wouldn't use this to fight a fire that had already taken hold but it the toaster caught fire I think it would be useful.

Presumably the foam is harmless to people. could it be used against intruders, instead?

It says on the can that it sprays for 32 seconds. Reasonably heavy so you could always hit them with it.

I'd buy one just to test it and put the results on YouTube. All the videos on YT about the product seem to be dodgy, and in one case hilarious, infomercials.

If this is really effective and reliable then it could be useful to keep close to hand to deal with a very very small fire, but I have my doubts.

First Alert is a reasonable brand and it says on the can that it meets BS7937:2000.

Great buy - cleared the shelf in Watford. Great to give to family and frinds - for the sake of £2 , if you should ever need to use it - it will be worth the money!
However, I agree 'run away' is the best solution.
