First and second class stamps - Costco haven't raised prices!

ami1975ami1975

Not that it's a HUGE savings, but we were in our local Costco today and noticed that they haven't raised the prices on their first and second class stamps. Since they've all gone up at the post office and through royal mail's website, might be a good deal for someone!!

I think they've gone up 3 or 4 pence per stamp since 1st april. Worth having a check. Not sure if this is all costcos or when they'll catch on or change it.

We all love to save a few pence but isn't Royal Mail still fantastic value?! Anywhere in Britain for a few pence, and usually next day. Try that with any of the so called 'competitors'.

No, I don't work for them, I just fear the day they are allowed to collapse rather than adding a few pence to the price of a stamp.

Agreed, if you said you'd give me a fiver to deliver something a few roads away, I'd tell you to ** **** *******, for a few pence RM will take it anywhere!

yes but are they reliable - no is my answer, cheap but hopeless

i used to sell up to 40 items a day on ebay...most by std parcels, special delivery 1st class or 1st class recorded....up to 25% of non-special deliveries never arrived or was damaged on arrival........i send stuff by parcel2go - usually dhl and it always gets there

we had our post redirected for my business and home to our new address - paid approx £150 for the year - which they refunded because the 'service' was so unbelievably poor (we knew how bad the service was because we kept in contact with the buyers of our old house and realised that approx 90% of mail wasnt being redirected - luckily we could retrieve it easily as we'd only moved about 1/2 mile away)

Well get cheap stamps while you can as the future doesn't look so rosy! 3p is much higher than the rate of inflation for one year. The government want to sell upto 49% of Royal Mail to TNT, when this happens stamp prices will rise to the same as european levels which are much higher! And, don't believe anyone who tells you that the service will suddenly improve when this happens as they are living on another planet. Other companies don't want to deliver mail while stamps are cheap. Stamps have only been cheap because it was a public service industry, since 2000 private management was brought in by the government Leighton/Crosier. The service hasn't got better, but their own bank balances look healthier with million pound bonuses for doing the same job as head postmasters did... and stamps keep on rising. The good news is that if you purchased stamps at last years price, they will still be valid after the price hikes! Not sure if TNT will carry on with that money loosing idea when they get involved???
