Great beach and drink service by friendly staff. But get down early to snag chairs, otherwise you may miss out!
I've been here as well - the week after Mexicans were setting light to petrol stations and firebombing a bank. The government suppress any bad press as soon as they can so it's very difficult to find out about safety.

We had a reasonable holiday as the local people were grateful tourists were still visiting but the beach is not that great, the location makes it a little awkward to get around, the Americans are very loud and I wouldnt like to talk about the pool. Also quite a few people went down with stomach bugs, although the staff were always cleaning. Might go back to that part of the coast but a different hotel. Suits people who want to drink heavily.
dallo
Been here twice once last year and once this year.
Can't fault the place only thing is the yanks are very loud.

So I heard on TripAdvisor .... :)

Sounds lovely. It wouldn't effect me as I rarely do sunbeds as I'm such a fidget.

First Choice are taking the **** just done a
quote for a holiday for next year for same dates and hotel and price has gone up by over a grand how can they justify such a hefty increase so looking at a holiday that cost £1679 now costing £2890! }:(

Yeah, I know what you mean. I always find November/early December is a good (cheaper) time to book.
if the free child places are no longer available this would explain the increase, hence why I posted the deal. our holiday has also gone up as the free child places have all been "sold".

do check alternative airports/hotels as maybe still have some left, just not for your chosen options

When we booked our holiday for this year, found that it was cheaper to pay for all then use the free child offer as they take the discounts on all the other people off.
askew80
when you do the search results it says free child place. becareful how you filter results as if you ask for it to listen in price order cheapest dearest it doesn't rank then right, so ours should have been £3,700 and was lasted where the price of £3,700 would have been but had reduced price instead.

Foreign Office -
The threat from terrorism remains high. Terrorist groups, including Kurdish groups, Daesh (formerly referred to as ISIL) and far left organisations, continue to plan and carry out attacks. Further attacks are likely. Terrorist groups, including Daesh and the Kurdistan Freedom Falcons (TAK), have publicly threatened to attack tourist sites in Turkey. You should take extra care in public places – particularly those visited by foreigners. Be vigilant, follow the advice of local security authorities, monitor media reports and keep up to date with this travel advice.

On 12 January 2016 there was a suicide bomb attack against tourists in Sultanahmet in Istanbul in which 10 people died. On 19 March 2016 a similar attack against tourists on Istiklal St in Istanbul killed 4 people.

On 17 February 2016 a large bomb attack near a military barracks on Eskisehir Road in Ankara killed 28 people. On 13 March 2016, a similar attack killed over 30 people at Kizilay Square in central Ankara.

The list goes on...

Yep crack on sure its safe :(

But it's cheap. So people will go. Amazing the amount of people who don't know what countries Egypt, Dubai, Turkey and Tunisia share a border with.

looking at going in late sept or early october, are the beaches comparable to mexico?
No - Mexico is a large country with a population of 123 million whilst beaches have a larger population of sand grains and no drug gang problems.
The Costa Caleta hotel is a nice hotel food ok nice clean rooms etc.Don't let bad reviews put you off its a good hotel. We stayed there last year,Not a lot to do there i hired a car and drove up to the beautiful beach at Coralejo. Also went back first week of december to Coralejo weather was warm with hottest day 26c.

I think that Fuerte is the least developed of all the canary islands, and for the price you can't expect much more. Bliss for relaxing.

Actually sitting on Caleta de fuste beach right now at the end of a 2 week holiday here and I'd say avoid it unless you like being bored senseless. Might be better for 7 nights but all there is to do is visit beaches (caleta not being very good)
Then maybe you should have been clever enough to research the resort before booking there? 101.
We hired a car so the resort isn't a problem, its the island itself. You're right though, should have researched it more. When the list of top things to do on TA is visit beaches you know something is up.
Loads of things to do in corralejo

We went there last summer. The hotel was fab but the weather spoiled it for me. I loved all the wildlife around the resort though, iguanas, coatis, monkeys, racoons and i even saw a road runner bird, I didn't know they were real!
echo everyone elses comments, was there a couple of years ago as best man for a wedding party, top quality hotel!, its even got its own nightclub out of the way from everywhere else (noise wise)
We stayed there last year, exactly same date. As a couple agreed 28/32 absolutely brilliant, resort staff can't do enough to help. Brilliant time was had, 2 weeks isn't enough, and the drinks just keep flowing :-) very few people out of control drunk though, which is a nice change from the all inclusive within Europe. You are well outside any towns so you are stuck in resort unless you get a bus or taxi, either are very cheap. Lots of turtles and fish in the bay at the resort when we were there, take a snorkel. Every tour to Mayan ruins or tourist attractions were exceptionally well organised and ran perfectly to time. Loved it, book it.

Hi stacey,
Can you please help. ? Me and my husband have promised our children our first family holiday. Could you help us find something all inclusive for 2 adults 3 children. Many thanks.
i don't get these tour operators. This is a young family catered resort yet the flight times are ridiculous. Im sure it puts most families off going. Great price tho.
Stayed here in 2012. Place is stunning, but pools are totally freezing and empty. Surroundings are run down and no beach at all.
Wanting to go away the week of 16th June, does anyone think its best to leave booking one till last minute? Or is it a bit risky as we will have the week booked off but might not get a last minute deal.

Heat by the way, would of gone for this if I were looking now, hope it comes up mid June :)

Bless you - sometimes you think posting a deal you are happy with blows up. Ill vote hot because you're happy with it :-)
The new Deregulation Bill could mean cheaper holidays for families.

The government yesterday announced plans to scrap the standard 6 week holiday at state schools throughout the country. The new Deregulation Bill will allow schools more freedom to decide the lengths of school terms, and how many students will have a year. Schools will still be obliged to be open for at least 190 days a year. Free schools and academies also have this freedom from local councils. These ideas have arisen after Michael Gove’s claims that the 6 week holiday is an outdate concept rooted in 19th century values, when children needed to be home during harvest season. Gove also highlighted pressure from growing economies such as China, whose children are educated differently. However, this has been argued against by the NUT (National Union of Teachers) in particular, who claim that teachers already face difficult workloads. NUT General Secretary Christine Blower argued that England’s schools already have longer classroom hours and shorter holidays “than most countries”. This was refuted by Gove who dismissed the Union as harbouring a “culture of low expectations”, arguing that term lengths are more focused on teachers rather than children.

This new style of holidays could mean that families with two or more children attending different schools could find it difficult to arrange childcare or family holidays. However, schools are expected to listen to the wants of the students and their parents, which would make it likely that they will continue to make school holidays around the same time as other local schools.

I can help as the missus is on the governors board of local primary...

You "can" be issued a fine, but that fine is nominal and still a far better way than paying the overpriced holiday fees these companies charge

Also remeber this is all comeing to a grinding halt from 2015 when the 6 weeks holiday are demolished, and schools are not allowed to copy other schools holidays in the local area, so effectively having a 52 week school year...

so the holiday companies wont know when to stink their prices up

Has the proposed law gone through then?

no, but it is not opposed by Labour or Lib-dems so it will just go through
sofad1970

Most of the hotels have armed security, so you'll probably be ok.................

No they don't, it is against the law for anybody except for the police and armed forces to carry guns. Mombasa is very safe especially the tourist areas such as where this deal is taking you.

Anyone can apply for a licence to carry a gun in Kenya, there is a massive British presence there providing armed security.

The hotel we stayed at in Malinda had blokes outside with guns. Maybe they were security, maybe Police, maybe army, I didn't ask. It didn't stop an armed robbery at the hotel jewellery shop whilst we were there............

Hmm one will get kidnapped in Kenya. I shall stay in Britain.

If only this was true, this is only a chance if you happen to stay near in the border with Somalia. Mombasa is nearly 200kms from there and far safer then most cities here.

This is a one week hol with first choice to Holguin, Cuba. I've been to this particular hotel before (Brisas Guardavaluca). It's a 3 star but as you can see from Tripadvisor reviews it scores better

Absolute bargain .... tragically, I can't take advantage.

Hot Hot Hot!
Cuba is the most amazing place I have ever been to, would love to go back but just booked my next trip of 3 weeks doing Route 66 !
Got married here 2 years ago and can say best holiday I have ever had.
Was at Brisas in November. Loved it.
Fyi the trip to Havana from there is £300
Leaving tomorrow only? I wish I was still able to drop everything and go away on a spur of the moment like this!
