Beware! Pets at Home have terrible hygiene standards in their fish section - snails in the plants, and the last lot of fish I had from their carried an infection that wiped out the rest of my fish. By all means buy the tank on offer, but get your plants and fish elsewhere!

Tanks in shop, cleanliness, etc all seem fine in my local but the fish I've bought from here in the past have all died very quickly so I don't bother any more. They are also very expensive and treat you like a 14 year old kid, putting you under intense srutiny over whether the fish you are buying are suitable for your tank and existing population.

I used to work for them some years ago and the reason the animal are in such bad condition is they got rid of all the mature staff that new their stuff when it came to animal care in favour of teenage staff that knew sod all about giving advice on animals ( cheaper wages ), i agree with the above post, buy your animals from your local pet shop....they will give you much better advice than the teens from pets at home

I think this tank is Perspex (may be wrong)so it’ll scratch very easily.

I could not believe the hastle we got trying to get a goldfish from them. They wanted all sorts of information including a water sample. After supplying this and getting the fish, it died 2 weeks later. Never again. We purchased 2 more from local pet shop with none of the hastle and they are still alive 6 months later.

I've never been grilled at my local fish specialist on the fish I bought, but was grilled and had to sign a declaration. It was hardly worth the time as I may as well have saved the fish some suffering and just killed a couple in the shop as they lasted 24 hours. I know I could have took them back but couldn't be bothered for the few quid they were and no doubt have my fish keeping methods questioned by a teenager.

No problem with the tank I imagine, just make sure you establish the tank before putting any fish in there

We've had the same experience with fish and hamsters from Pets at Home. Buying from out local pet shop has never given us any issues at all.

From the quoted weight (16kg) I would think it's glass. Seem to be a renaming of Interpet's Fish Pod just for PAH.

I had my eye on this yesterday :-) great deal but the tank is plastic. Does look decent thogot my 125l from there 6 months ago and its been fine. I had fish from there though and never again they killed my whole tank :-(

This is cheaper from Seapets £99.95 & this is without an offer & you don't get the hassle.

Must admit My local PAH have been helpful lately the 1st lot of fish we had from them 50% did die, we;ve had water issue which they tested & help us sort, we bought more fish ( they threw in some babies) & they replaced a couple they died quickly & touch wood it been nearly 2 months & all good & we've even had babies now & the babies they gave for free have survived. But the staff are are mixture of mature & 18-25 yr olds, few youngsters.

the link above is for the tank and not the stand. just bought this today and set it up and cycling the tank. easy to build and looks pretty good with the bow front to it. my local PAH store ive found to be excellent with the staff having very good knowledge of the animals and fish in there care, we bought a small tank for the kids (not from PAH) and 3 guppies from PAH, all 3 are doing fine but i do notice alot of dead fish in there tanks, luckily my friend has 3 tanks and breeds fish so i'll get my live breeders from him, and once he has breeding discus i'll then move on to them.
