Surely Viber would do the same as this but for free? My entire family uses it and I'm regularly on the phone with my sister in New York without it costing a penny. It sounds like she's just in the next room as well.
yeah but what if the recipient does not have a phone that can use viber ... this sends actual texts messages ..

I'm wondering if this is the same company I used about 5 years ago, I doubt I'd need it now but as its a freebie I might need to have a try :)
You obviously haven't travelled far.

I would guess because not everyone around the World has things like Skype, twitter etc but might have a mobile phone? This seems to send as a "normal" text and replies are received as a "normal" text. I think :)

If you have any sort of modern phone you can have twitter and Skype.

Send texts from your mobile/computer from 1p, 2p for UK @ fishtext

FishText, allows the user to send text messages internationally for just over 1p and to the UK for 2p. This looks to be the cheapest way to send out of bundle text messages that include your number

Looks a bit dodgy!

Used it on and off for years now with no problems. They don't ask for any personal details or money so can't see how it could be dodgy.

I was talking about http://www.text4free.net - have you used that off and on for years?

Yes.
I've used Fishtext for sending cheap texts from abroad for some time. Not so easy to use now if you are in Europe as my provider [T-Mobile] want to charge for data in bundles as apposed to per Mb.

But I recently went to Mexico, and was sending texts to the UK for 4p [2p Fishtext + 2p data charge]. Thats compared to T-Mobile charging 40p for a standard text.

Never had any issues with spam texts for me or the recipient.
The Java version works great with my old Nokia phone, but the Android version is more web based and may not be as cheap, data wise to use.
Its not a new deal agreed, but worth letting guys know to save money.

I know Fishtext is fine, I have used that for myself a long time.
I actually think this is a great deal. I need extra messages at the mo and at these prices its great. The fact that when I use the service it adds my phone No and nothing else is brilliant - means people reply direct. It also works from my phone via an APP. Thanks OP...
