I prefer to let my weed grow freely ..

Completely unnecessary macho BS. Having seen the advert where two guys are using it and one of them cocks it and hands it to the other as if they're in an American cop movie and it's really a double-barrelled pump-action rifle.

And it comes with an Ejection System?
The more I read about it the more it seems like a substitute for a man's, erm manhood.

The sight of this made me pull my little weed.

Agree that side is unnecessary. But anyone know if these any good? And how big a hole they leave?

Amazon reviews are extremely positive.

ha ha... got one from b&q a few months back it was £29.99 with free secateurs (what we needed) worth £20 (or so they say)... with a discount card etc. worked out to about £25 in total.

Really impressed actually.... them darn spikey type cabbage leaved weeds were all over our lawn... this weed puller took them out with no problem, I was amazed at the roots on some of them, they were about 10 inches long... it does what it says it will do (even if the dubbed foreign ad is rather naff!)

wouldn't go out of my way to buy one... that said... no more weeds!

I bought won for about this price from Homebase the other week. It certainly works well and means far less wear and tear on my back. Have recommended it to a number of friends.

£20.79 at Homebase with the 20% discount available this weekend (starting tomorrow).

For everyone going on about how this is uneeded and a waste of money I advise to try one. I had weeds in my gardens and spent 4 hours doing the front, then bought this and did the back garden in 20 mins which is 3 times the size. and it did a much better job as the garden was weed free but without the mess I'd left in the front. Worth every penny if you ask me

Answer with holes is they don't, it's a genious design, it pulls the weed and roots and that's it..... Left my grass alone
#12
Think my dandelion so big that they've already killed the grass around it. Might give it a go though.
#13
If I can find a macho way to remove the weeds in my garden then bring it on!
#14
Very good reviews from people who've bought the product.

The bad reviewers who state that it leaves holes should fill the holes with a sandy soil, the weeds will be gone and the drainage in their lawn will be improved.

What would you rather.. an ad cut straight to someone using it, then walking off. The end.

I admit, its not side spliting stuff.. But me thinks someone's taking it a bit too seriously (_;)
#16
btw, I have one.
I have (or should I say 'had') loads of those spiky/prickly type weeds (ouch).. this gets rid of them in no time, no hacking away for ages with gardening tools anymore.
The hole it leaves isn't that big tbh.

Amen

Just use a good weedkiller on the lawn. Worked well for me as it selectively killed the dandelions and not the grass.
#19
Cheers OP, been trying to get one in our local Focus DIY stores, although they're all closing down
#20
My neighbours garden was full of weeds then she got one of these the other day and her 12yr old son cleared the weeds in no time. I was well impressed but personally use weedkiller.
#21
Oi! Leave my weed alone, its medicinal.

think I' rather pay greenthumb to come and weedkill and fertilize my whole lawn for £16 and kill off all the clovers and buttercups too! but then I'm just really lazy!
#24
I have one of these. Makes light work of a dull job - genuinely surprised by how easy and good the results were.
#25
I use a hoe for weeds in my garden, she doesn't moan too much! ;)

I've had one the last year and a bit, different brand mind, cost me £15 from a local trader (Hurst on the isle of Wight)

My neighbour watching in amazement as my front lawn was completely weeded in 30 minutes with an ever growing pile of pulled weeds on the side. As someone already mentioned, the thick straight roots can go as far as a foot down. It makes a satisfying thud as the whole root is pulled from the soil.

I really recommend it for those shying away from chemicals for health or pet reasons.

Yeah, the advert is ****, but so are the one's for cillit bang, but by christ, old Barrie knows how to remove skids from porciline.

Anybody have any idea if these are good for stinging nettles?

The voucher says its for friends and family of Homebase and Argos, and original needed. Are you sure copy version this would work?

At the top of the voucher it says "Print this voucher and take it to your local Homebase store." so I guess its okay to use it

Is this the same thing as Grampa's Weeder @ £21.49 at Lakeland? We have the lightweight weed puller @ £18.99 and it works fine. Leaves a little hole about an inch or inch and a half - you do have to fill it.
#34
They do leave a hole, but they do pull out the root. Fill the hole spread a little seed jobs a gooden

No-one has yet mentioned that there are TWO varieties of this. The smaller one is aluminium and goes for about £22, the bigger one is steel and I bought one for £30 from Homebase last week.

It does leave a hole - about a 1 inch square "inverted pyramid" about 2 inches deep if that makes sense. Pesonally I have no problem with leaving them or maybe filling them with some compost at some point.

The all important thing for me is that I simply would NEVER have weeded the lawn without something like this. Also, my son likes a gadget so he's been doing the weeding for me! Win-win!
#36
Gone for this, for when it comes back in stock. Ta!

Did wonder if they're a bit 'aimed at men' but the reviews and comments here seem to back up the claims about the item. Our lawn is pretty bad for weeds, plus we have a kind of 'wild' area further down that could get the treatment from this.

Cool!
#37
Feed and weed from B&Q will make your grass greener and kill off weeds, daisies, dandelions, etc. Good price, but a wholly unnecessary product.

I hear the same company are producing a tool which scrapes hardened dried in food from your kitchen worktops...

Me too! They are brilliant! My lawn looks awesome! Lovely people too!

As far as this weed puller goes i wouldn't advise! It says it takes the roots but 90% of the time they grow back! Its almost impossible to get all the roots of most common weeds!

You don't get double-barrelled pump action shotguns, they would be single barrelled.

Ordered one, I'm a pussy.
