I have no idea whether or not FitnessFirst gyms are any good but a free 8-day pass sounds OK to me. Normally free passes are for shorter periods. I expect there will be some high-pressure sales pitch at the end of the trial but you can always say NO!

"To activate this offer and find your nearest club call 0844 571 8080. You’ll receive a 8-day guest membership and beach body analysis. We’re good to you, aren’t we? Your guest membership is valid at all Fitness First blue and platinum clubs. Our Black Label clubs are exempt from this offer but you can still pop in for a tour and to discuss your personal fitness goals. During your guest membership you’re welcome to use the sunbeds, beauty rooms and crèche for an additional charge. To check your local club’s facilities visit fitnessfirst.co.uk And now for the legal bits: You must be 16 or over; the offer is subject to availability*; your 8 days at the club must be consecutive; this voucher has no cash value, is not for re-sale and the offer is valid to 16th June 2011. And most importantly…you’re gonna love it"

Thanks for the support. I was in two minds about posting the offer as I suspected there would be lots of cold votes from gullible people who sign contracts without reading them.

Why is this cold? Surely anything free should be HOT? Voted hot btw.

nice gyms and nice machines BUT they are sooo busy in the evening peaks , were like sardines in there :(

Got one of these passes a few years ago but decided against taking a full membership.

I kept on getting sales calls from the gym to sign up as well as texts from their head office.

Was a complete nightmare and took me repeated attempts to get my number removed from their lists.

I am a member of fitness first in east kilbride, I have no complaints about them.

If you are worried about the contract then read the small print first and ask questions before signing anything.

Stay away from them. Do not accept free passes or trial periods of membership with the option to cancel within 10-15 days etc. etc. You will never be able to cancel anything without losing money despite the fact that they will ensure you for the opposite.

It is a guest membership with a voucher from a newspaper! You do not have to sign up for a full membership then cancel or provide any payment details. I have used a guest membership at fitness first and had no problems.
