Nice price. I watched half of the pilot, being a childhood fan of flash gordon, and was very dissapointed.
Anyone watch the series? did it get any better ?
#3
I don't know if the series is any good but at that price I'm going to take a gamble.
#4
IMDB rate it at 4.5 out of 10 here
It's a good price if you have been looking for it or fancy a lot of cheap sci-fi for your money but maybe we should be wondering why it's sooooo cheap?

AND the Hut/ASDA/Lovefilm/currys all have it for £5.93!

Ah, damit. I was going to post this... but after mine had actually been dispatched :-D
#6
Quite possibly one of the worst Sci fi shows on Telly...
#7
My 13 year old son liked it but I only lasted through one episode. Might be a bargain for him though.
#8
It turned out to be a pretty good series. Started pretty slow but was good by the end.
#9
Good price, rubbish series.
#10
i lost the will to live halfway through the pilot and had to call the samaritans, so if you have a special person in your life that you hate, this is an ideal present for them
#11
allegedly incredibly poor and laughable ...

SFX are always moaning on about it being a waste of a good franchise .... 1 season then cancelled
#12
oh, and i think the baddie is Ming Campbell and not the Merciless ... :whistling:
#13
It was absolute rubbish - cheaply made and gawdawful acting.
Save your money!
Unless you want to use the discs as drink coasters...

I agree, I read all bad reviews from SFX magazine, but ended up enjoying the series by not taking it too seriously! I was actually disappointed it wasn't coming back by the last episode...

rubbish series batlestar was a great remake of the old series FG fell woefully short hence the price of the dvd worth getting for the long winter days coming up.

The series takes the film and rips exact scenes, removes the camp then makes them carp. Example: when Dale is about to be shagged by Ming. In the movie she's given some drugged drink to take her mind off it. Cut to the series where she's given an ear piece instead, with the rest of scene the same. I really wanted to like the show but it was just far to unoriginal, and not just because it's based on an existing franchise. I found the new Battlestar Galactica too dark and depressing and not the kind of show i really want to watch.

Just watched the first five episodes and I'm quite liking it. If a bit of take your brain out dodgy sci-fi is all your after it's pretty good.

I actually did watch all the episodes as they aired in the US (brought to you by the letter "t") and it really was just a fluffy sci-fi series. Not thought-provoking or even hugely entertaining, but just a mindless watch if you're in the mood for that sort of thing.

The only slightly interesting things of note were that the actress (Gina Holden) who played Dale was also an assistant in "Blood Ties" (a better show than "Flash Gordon", but I eventually gave up on Blood Ties because it bored me, plus "Moonlight" was a way better watch anyway) and Sam Jones - the movie Flash Gordon - turns up in a cameo role.

I might actually get this box set because it'll never go any lower in price and the show's been scrapped, plus I did enjoy the odd few episodes in it.
