Basically I called Virgin to cancel and got told at midnight the exact package I have (5000 mins, 5000 Mins to 08 numbers, unlimited texts, 5GB data will be offered in a flash sale for £10 (instead of the current price of £15)

They advised me to either log into my account to get the deal or call up. Not sure if the sale last for 24 hours and if other sim only deals are included.

UPDATE: sorry guys just called them they said due to technical difficulties the promotion didn't go live and will go on in 24-48 hrs... lets see!

UPDATE: Spoke to guy on live chat he said when it goes live it will go on for 1 week but no idea when exactly it will start.

Update goes live 18th Oct

Virgin customer service is appalling! Used to be OK. I'm still with Virgin because I have an old plan, but new tariffs are rubbish!

DONT FORGET THE MONTHLY £3 INCREASE

If it were anyone but Virgin, I'd jump on that, on paper that is a cracking deal. As it is, it could be unlimited everything and I'd stay away from it. Horrible company!

Do Virgin have 4G yet or are they still rocking 2001 with 3G?

Still 3G but apparently a rep told me they will be getting 4G in December, but I doubt it, I'm sure he just said that to me to try and convince to purchase a bundle from him.

Having used all the main companies I found virgin customer service along with O2 the best.

4G should be by the end of the year I was told, but I'm not moving till they have it though. I think its more like 2003 though, before Three started 3G as a commercial service. When three started I had one of the hideous ugly Motorola A38 with an add on camera back , it had the camera in a barrel that rolled round but I'm sure it could not do video calls, although I had no-one else to call anyway then... ...

Virgin Response:

Not sure about that yet.
But we will surely update the website immediately once it is available so you just have to check the website from time to time.

Do we know what time this is going to be ?

I'm not sure if it's exactly the same company, but just got rid of virgin for broadband/phone/tv because of their crazy high prices and was told by the girl on the 'retention team' that BT/Sky fibre won't be nearly as fast because its FTTC and Virgin is FTTP...yyyyeeeaeaaaaahhhhh right. Had a full blown argument with me about it!! I was pretty sure miss-selling was illegal but try telling that to Virgin Media...

do they do 4g yet

What a shame, I was with them for over 10 years, then recently they removed unlimited data and couldn't offer anything close to the Three deal (unlimited mins/txts & 4GB data for £9). Any problems were resolved relatively easy when I was with them.

I still have virgin TV; broadband and i used to have a so called amazing dealwith their mobile (£6/month for 1200 mins, unlimited text and 1gb Data), however................. I left them because on loads of occasions people would ring me when I had signal, but it wouldn't ring, so they would leave a message. I wouldn't even get a message to say I had a voicemail until i made a call (which could be hours later), then it would pop up.
Once I was waiting for a call from a garage for my car to be ready, and It wasn't until i rang them at around 4pm, it popped up with a voicemail from around 11am. Really annoying.

Sounds like a car journey with young kids this thread.

Funny how they are saying end of the year now, a few weeks ago it was October they were upgrading to 4g.

whats with all the haters with 3G? LIFE MOBILES 3G faster than most 4G networks

Curious, what do you mean double discount? Less than half for 150mb?!

Completely different experience for me... Worst customer service I've ever had the misfortune to use... Still it got me lots of phone credit.

The network signal on Virgin sucks and blows simultaneously. Barely able to get through one wall in my house. For being a MVNO of the EE signal it is shocking how poor it is. As soon as I finish my contract next year I am definitely switching.

As incompetent as every other company, but you can sort their cock ups eventually. No worse/better than O2, Vodafone or 3 in my experience.

Was with Virgin Media for Mobile and Broadband but gave up because of the price hikes and poor service, dropped signal and terible Voicemail and with Broadband no service. Were a lot better before they got sold to the Americans. They will be boasting of the fabulous F1 coverage they can offer soon once they have got rid of Channel 4 and Sky I would imagine. All those price increases have helped them buy the rights off of the consortium that owned F1.

Got this deal already.... after all my unlimited contracts increased from £5.50 to £9 then the stupid hike to £23 I rang to say it was totally out of order.

Lady was quite happy for me to leave and was encouraging me to get my PAC code.

I asked where was Virgins loyalty to customers who have been with them for so many years & her response was "Virgin don't offer discounts anymore, do you want this PAC code?".

Said ok, but I want the other 5 on my account also!!

The lady was very sharp asking why do I want the other 5 when this price increase only affected 2 of my contracts.....

Very simple, if you can suddenly increase 2 of my contracts from £9 to £23 whats stopping you doing the same to the others that also have discounts. You have just said Virgin don't offer discounts, so the others will increase, so I'm taking all my business from you.

Suddenly I got offered the £15 package for £10..... oh, so you do offer discounts then.

Customer services have changed loads over the years at Virgin, hardly ever spoke to them but was always someone in England. Now you NEVER speak to anyone in england, it's just a script.

I had the same argument today, phoned to cancel and was told but you get up to 200mb, I said I only get around 50 - 60 at best and was told well it's probably your equipment that can't handle it!!!

We did the retention thing last year and got a discount, this year did the same again and they gave us the same discount twice paying £20.25 BB only :)

Virgin Mobile was my first contract SIM. I had to do it in my Dad's name because I was still 17. Must have been 10 years ago.

The deal was just for NTL/Telewest customers. 300 mins, 300 texts and 1mb of data for £10/month. Their customer service were all in UK call centres then. It was brilliant.

The prices are a bit lower now, but the customer service has gone downhill. I moved away from them 2 years ago but my parents are still with them - the only time you get to UK customer service now is when you call to cancel. Never had a huge issue with them as I have with Vodafone though...!

Monthly £3 increase? I've been £10 a month for 2 years. Only thing that's increased is my data allowance
