"400mm Flat Bed Tile Cutter"

Am I correct in thinking this means it will cut tiles up to 400mm, or does this mean the cutter is 400mm in length? If it can handle 400mm tiles then it's a great price as I've been looking for one of these for a while
#18
Great find - I don't need one just yet but at this price it's to good to miss. It can live with all the other tools I have and don't use :)

The cutter will cut tiles up to 400mm in length. It wont cut 400mm thick tiles, but I dont think you meant that anyway did you. heh

If my tiles don't fit in it I'll be sending Murdock round :)

I have used a tile cutter like this before & it was useless.

I think it's false ecomony, you end up wasting lots of tiles because they are not cut correctly or they break whilst cutting them.

I think its much quicker & easier to use an electric diamond tile cutter, cost me about £40 and didnt waste one tile.

Ah, memories... Thought id save time with one of these, there are 180m2 of tiles in my house, all painstakingly fitted by me. Turned out to be utter rubbish. The wheel wasnt overly sharp, and it was almost impossible to cut a straight line twice, as there was so much play in the top rails.
Borrowed a professional version from a builder, and wow what a difference, perfect everytime. Im afraid you have wasted your money on this... and tiles. Still, the good lady used all the broken bits to make a nice surround for the mirror...

Has anyone actually used one and is it any good? or just another false economy as someone else mentioned...

Probably weren't doing it right then, as even with a cheap one you can do a good job. This will only work on flat Ceramic tiles too. I got a diamond cutter too but for this is much quicker and a pretty decent cut too.

With all due respect bud I would say someone who is not experienced in tile cutting ain't going to do a good job on something like this. I would say this will waste more tiles than it would cost to purchase a wet blade or better straight cutter. I am saying that and I love straight tile cutters and hate wet blades!

Of course it all depends on how much the tiles are worth but if expensive then you must not rely on this cutter.

That's because that's how much more the delivery company charges. Can't really blame Toolstation for that!
