Ladeda, sadly Mattmerch is right - to fly Air NZ to Japan would mean going to Auckland first and that makes it quite a long trip. And almost certainly not for this price. I think I've seen Tokyo from London direct with Virgin for around the 450 mark before as one of their specials. But if you get the chance, Japan is an awesome place to visit - it's like falling into an alternate universe where you don't really understand anything, where things are stunningly efficient and clean, and people are incredibly polite. Even in the middle of Tokyo you can feel like a real oddity as there are so few westerners there. I spent three weeks in Japan last year and it was perhaps the best holiday I've ever had - but not for the usual reasons.

Back to this deal - I really rate Air NZ and I'm about to book the LA flight myself for next week.

Good prices though I'd doubt I will ever fly with them again, been on Air New Zealand a few times (as they were generally cheaper) and I have to say the hostesses there are a bit racist. They would generally be unfriendly and ignore us given the chance, but then happily greet other people. The worst time was when I was flying to back to U.K. It was like breakfast and this hostess asked me what food I wanted, I replied "Sorry, could you repeat that?" as I couldn't quite hear her, then she disgustingly snapped back in a sarcastic way. Needless to say I was a bit shocked so never again for me.

Yeah the deal is for Hong Kong and Los Angeles, I'm not sure on any of the other locations, Japan for example, as I've not checked them out :)

Last-minute flight offers at netflights.com may work out cheaper.
LA £303 (not direct though. Directflights with United are about the same as Air NZ)
HK £332

Also browse the 'Latest offers' section on that site

I have flown air NZ many times and have always had the best service and found the people working aboard to go out of their way to make your trip a good one.

This is a great deal!

Maybe it was the time of year or the places I visitied :-) I played "spot the westerner" a few times in the early part of my trip - even in Tokyo Disneyland (which was packed) I saw 11 on one day and 6 on the another. Great tip about the rail pass - a real bargain and the trains run on time too.

I've just finished a holiday in New Zealand flying with Air New Zealand and I must say they are fantastic, would definitely fly with them again! Plus, it is free for British Citizens to join their frequent flyer club - part of the Star Alliance - the worlds biggest! Excellent service all round - the only downside is Heathrow have managed to lose my bag now I've returned. :( Apparently they mixed some of the bags up coming off of our flight with local Heathrow bags - ****ing idiots.
