There are some really cheap flight deals to Hong Kong at the moment. Virgin and Air New Zealand have already got current deals going but at around the £320-£350 mark. Using Orbitz, there are some really cheap flights deals with Quantas to be had. For example:
2nd May - 11th May: £283
26th May - 4th June: £283
8th June - 15th June: £283

Note - these are priced at $400, so the price may vary depending on what your bank charge you.

have you any comparisons to say that flying to hk then on to another country is cheaper than flying there directly?

or you just guessing.....

i can pick up a flight from london to bangkok return for 400gbp give or take depending on the airline

I just edited a couple of the example dates ... it looks like these flights are selling out fast (I had originally 5th May to 11th May, but that has now gone at £283).

Are these flying on the A380?

Use it as a hub to enter asia/philippines with AirAsia/Cubu Pacific and you can save yoursefl £500+ on the costs of a direct ticket to those places.

now i'll just have to wait for cathay pacific or singapore airlines to join the price war :whistling:

yeah our british pound sucks...no point us going anywhere really but this price to go HK is super duper tempting since i have family out there.....then a side trip to somewhere as well.....:-D going to patiently wait for any better deals from other airlines!

Singapore Airlines are still in denial about the global recession.... they definitely need to lower their fares!! Hopefully they'll come to their senses after announcing another quarter of losses...

Lot's of trivial whinging in this thread!

This is an amazing price. A months ago the best price was £327, then a couple of weeks ago it was £303. Let's hope the downward trend continues.

I agree!!! I'd usually be in Thailand for the winter but it's not the bargain it used to be. If you count the cost of having to FLY out of the country to renew your visa too...

Whinge, whinge, whinge! Whens it gonna get warmer over here?!

Mai Pen Rai and all that I suppose...

No they haven't. They haven't crashed. An incident isn't the same as a crash. A crash generally means it crashes, and thus doesn't make it to its destination.

Rubbish, The HK Dollar is pegged to the US Dollar.
The British Pound isn't worth anything, because Brit's are morons .

If you're hunting for dates, it looks like the best times are (the outbound flight date):
For week long trips:
2nd - 4th May
26th May - 9th June

For two week trips:
20th May - 3rd June

I could probably do a guide on the site I use to find these dates, but not sure where I'd put it (somewhere in misc?)

please explain your statement

hkd and yen are extremely strong where the usd is like 1.40 compared with 1.90 last year

it would appear "brits" aint the only moron around here

Hong Kong is a long way away this is a really good price. Wonderful place and people as well. Hong Kong is not really that expensive once you are over there not much to do but shop though.

Singapore is very expensive.............

Air Asia only fly to Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok from HK. The problem is your luggage allowance, which goes down from 20-23kg on conventional long haul carriers to 15kg or less with Air Asia. Take your full allowance ex UK and you'll pay massive excess baggage charges with Air Asia.

We flew to Jakarta with Qatar, then with Air Asia to Bali to save £100. Never again. I would rather pay a £100 more to make the whole journey easier.

Just to add my 2p.

The currency situation is one that I found most annoying being out there in Jan. I had NEVER spent such expensive HKD - at some B de C in popular places (like Tsim Sha Tsui), it was practically £1 to $10. It was £1 to $15.5 a year ago.......

To make matter worse, food cost had risen 20%+ so eating out was noticeably more expensive.

Good thing is, you CAN find cheaper places to eat and if you haven't been there the last 2-3 years, you probably don't think it's THAT bad. Only because I've been back (home) a few times the last few year I noticed the increase in costs.

£285 with Qantas is a bargain, even I am tempted (but will pass as I spent too much on travelling just the past 6 months alone).

Please msg me if you want to know the best place to exchange your ££ or indeed anything about HK. Will try to help where I can.

I'dbe interested in site link as my ex wants me and kids to fly out to Shanghai in the next couple of months for him to see kids (He works a lot and is constantly on call and kids are 3 and 4 so he needs me there so I get free holiday)...I'd be looking for a fewmonths duration though, with potential to change return flight, and also to fly from Scotland down to LHR as think thats probably cheapest option - he will be paying....Cjeers for any info!

The dates from my original post have pretty much gone. There are still a few dates around ... 26th May to 4th June? Pricing at around £272 on Orbitz (cheaper than my post ... but there are very few dates available at this price).
