I've used El Al twice. Never again. If you fancy a couple of lengthy interrogations about how you know the people you're flying with and quite personal questions then fair enough. The second time I used we were flown into an Israeli military airport, rather than to the Egyptian airport specified. When we got off we were treated with utter disdain. Shocking.

On the way back, we again had to use the military airport because of 'security concerns' which may well have been valid. But, a single female traveller, was pulled out of the line and strip-searched as they were concerned as to why she was on her own. As it wasn't a commercial airport the only available place was right next to the traveller's queue in a room with huge windows and no blinds, so everyone could see what was going on. Appalling. Plus they took all her electrical equipment, saying they'd send her Ipod, mobile etc onto her. Never did. We acted as witnesses to her grievances and again she was given very little apology and neglibible compensation.:x

That's a small minded comment (IMO). So have you visited or are you just assuming it's a terrible place? Just as if Israeli's were to watch the media and believe ALL of britain is about gun crime, stabbings and binge drinking.

I do agree that the security is over the top and totally uncompromising but if there is an airline that is going to be safe I think it will be El AL.

It's not the airline that's the problem nor the deal! It's more the country with a lot of not nice occupying people that it will be flying you to...

Security in Israel being over the top is an understatement to say the least. Simply ask people that have experienced Israeli security problems, and this isn't just confined to Palestinians either!

They have to take security seriously, they also have armed air marshalls on board long before the Americans.

God bless Israel.

Price is hot to that part of the world if not with EL AL

If Israel government give the Palestinians their land back, then maybe they will all enjoy the peace but as long as the Israelis government keep act as the Apartheid they will never enjoy the peace with all the security control of the world add to that they will have the same end as the Apartheid in south Africa.

Why?

BTW, you failed to add - they (Israel/Israelis) are are an occupying force, they also have and continue to build illegally on occupied land, they have and continue to commit mass human rights abuses including killing many innocent men, women & children, they have and continue to break more UN rules/resolutions than any other country in the world!

Why would you want God to bless any such country?

Lol, maybe he is American.
And Mr. Blesser before you come and abduct me etc. I am only joking!

I am British but not pale because I have a little dark blood in me from somewhere down the line so I wouldn't go there even if the ticket was free as I would probably be 'legally' shot so I'll stay at home I think (under the bed!) :whistling:

There should be a ban on visiting militant, oppressive, occupying, convention ignoring nations.

I wouldn't want to give that nation one penny of my money, cus I know what it goes towards. The ethical thing to do is stay well aware from that country.

The normal childish and ignorant responses. Will you all be criticising offers to Sri Lanka where over 20,000 civilians were killed? No, I thought not.

Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East. Go there, visit Jerusalem and walk in the walled city, a quarter of which is Moslem occupied, a quarter Jewish and a half Christian. Would that be allowed in Saudi Arabia, Syria, The UAE etc?

So many people talking about so much stuff that they know nothing about. Most of the land that Israel occupies was taken by them during wars that they didn't start and that they were attacked in. I agree that the settlers cause more problems by building their small villages in these areas and I wish they were moved on. On the other hand this won't happen until Israel's neighbours retract their sworn intentions to remove Israel from the face of the Earth.

As for the "killing of innocent men, women and children", I suppose that the suicide bombers are martyrs so the killing of Israeli (and Kenyan, Egyptian etc) civilians doesn't count.

Just as an aside check on Google as to how many Palestinians have been killed by the Jordanians over the years. You can then add them to your boycott list.

Whilst your about it you can start to boycott Israeli invented goods. You'd better switch off your computers and mobile phones permanently and stop taking most of the drugs that you might be on.

Security is VERY tight. One guy in my uncles work place who works for orange had to fly out , but didnt have ID so they put him in JAIL FOR 24 HOURS !!!

First of all - Israel is a beautiful country and should be visited - if this is a cheap flight then it should be made hot and not cold because of your political insinuations.

I'm not a great fan of Israeli action in Palestine and would like to see peaceful states living side by side. However there are two sides to a story and our news fails to reflect the true cost on both sides. Everybody should be able to live in peace and in comfort and this region needs to sit down and talk through it for the sake of the middle east and the world.

Anti-Israeli, Anti-Semite and Anti-Islam has no place in this world and should not be a factor in deciding this deals warmth!

Hot for me!

£99 is a bargain.

As for the politics like other people say keep it out of the thread... anyways it's a cheap way if someone wants to visit the West Bank as a flight to Amman will be a lot more and you have to enter through Israel borders anyway.

How bout everyone stop offering biased opinions, and stick to backing up their statements with either hard facts or the opinions of someone credible. Eg!

Bam!

Look up anything by Noam Chomsky where he talks about israel and you'll get a very informed view of the situation.

A well-seasoned crackpot and you take his views as "very informed"

We could all show you tube videos for and against Israel but you have certainly stuck to your narrow minded view

There is always fresh evidence justifying the Israeli-Nazi analogy. In recent days and weeks, a number of Israeli officials and lawmakers proposed "draft laws" that would effectively formalize Israel's de facto racism and seriously restrict the human and civil rights of Israel’s non-Jewish citizens.
One of the proposals being discussed would criminalize the commemoration of Nakba by Palestinians holding the Israeli citizenship. Predictably, the brazenly racist proposal has infuriated Israel’s 1.5-million-strong Palestinian community.
One Israeli Palestinian parliamentarian compared the proposed law with an imagined promulgation by Germany of a law banning all Jewish activities commemorating the holocaust.

After all, you must be an Israeli to defend their cause with all the information available to you.
These are my views and it is a free speech isn't it?

Perhaps if you gave me some credible evidence beyond your opinions, then perhaps my view would change.

Oops. A bit too late to hold your money from Israel, you should check the patents they hold for their inventions:thumbsup:

And if your talking about ethical purchases, I assume you only buy 'Fair Trade' products also?

If there's a good deal to go somewhere, I'd consider almost anywhere, I'd make my own mind up about the place when I get there......

Lol, true, i guess the correct phrasing would be "I wouldnt want to knowingly give one penny of my money". But i wouldnt class the slaughter and oppression of a nation in the same category as farmers getting a bad deal ;).

Good. Now hopefully the tedious, usually one-sided, political debate can go somewhere more appropriate rather than being aired on a deals forum.

Palestine what a joke, the Romans renamed and relabelled Israel "Palestine" the majority of Arabs was bought in by the British in 1919,
As stated on here the only democracy in the Middle East and surrounded by 350 million Arabs who would love to wipe them off the map, but never will.
God bless the holy land of Israel.
#31
Great deal, and for the record, Israel is beautiful place, the women are stunning, especially when in army uniform, the food and people are great. Dont judge people for the actions of their govt.

As for people complaining about security, there is a very valid reason why El AL haven't suffered a terrorist attack! On my last visit I was quizzed by security for 2 hours, I took it all with the good grace it was intended.

So palestinians should suffer for what the Romans did hundreds of years ago?
And by majority, does that mean that the minority who were there already dont count?

And just because its a democracy doesnt mean they can do whatever they like. Theres a reason why Arabs, and most of the rest of the world, have no love for Israel.

I think im gonna give up this thread, probably futile for everyone cus it seems to be everyone vs Israelis/Jews by the looks of it, and no ones gonna change their view.

I praise your research, but most of the items seem to be articles on either individuals or a very small number of people either saying something bad or commiting a criminal act. It clearly shows palestinians have done wrong themselves, but it doesnt justify what Israel has done to innocent adults and children. Every country has their share of inhuman individuals, such as that Sonnex guy who murdered the two french students in the UK, but you cant use that as an excuse to pigeon hole a group of people and take it out on all of them.

No disrespect but pigeonholing is exactly what you are doing here. Palestinians have killed so many innocent people over the years, including lots of their own people - throwing people off of 15 storey buildings for having opposing political views is not the way that civilised society behaves and it isn't a one off as it happens too often.

Obama got it more or less bang on yesterday. Israel needs to stop the West Bank development, the Palestinians (and other Arab countries) need to stop the holocaust denial and their destruction of Israel threats. Hopefully peace will break out and everyone can then join together to fight the Iranian threat to the whole of the Middle East.

In all seriousness everybody should visit the walled city in Jerusalem. It is the most amazing place and try to do a tour of the tunnels which shows how the city has been built over the centuries. Then walk the rooftops and look down into the different religious quarters - forget the politics as I just feel that this is the most historic place on the planet and is relevant to just about every Abramic religion.

Throwing people off building? What an idiotic comment. How many english have killed english people for living in a different postcode? or for disrespecting them or killed babies for crying? On a slightly different note would it have been right for the British Forces to send missiles into densely populated areas of southern ireland in responce to IRA attacks?

Also what is the big deal about someone denying the holocaust (something that could have been prevented by Zionist leaders). Quite a lot of westerners believe conspiracy theories relating to 9/11 and 7/7. Doesn't make them right does it?
