Not particularly relevant for most folk, but Cisco have just closed down their Flip operations. Closed down, and not sold, since they couldn't get anyone to buy that.

This'll be why they're getting sold off cheap, I should imagine.

Do you reckon it is best to wait a bit longer and see if the price drops even further?

I have one. Great if you keep movement to a minimum, start to struggle with anything to pacey, but over all a great little video camera

They didn't even try and sell the flip side of the business,,, they just closed it down oO

i bet there will be further price drops from all stores, wait and get a 1080p one i say.

Good camera, hot deal. My only irritation is the amount of Flip cameras you see at concerts :/

What is lens viewing angle?

Worth reading this thread http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/camcorder-flip-video-mino-hd-2nd-8gb-hard-disc-59-99-delivered-argos-ebay/872921?page=1

This has been an amazing camera for me because it's always ready to go, easy to use (errr.. one button) and never fails.

Very high quality images too.

I was amazed to hear Cisco have dumped this machine as it is much loved by many.

I also use mine for data storage (drag/drop from Windows).

Flip is quite a recognized brand in the market. I would be very surprised if there isn't someone making Flip video cameras five years from now. But who knows.

I got the JVC model, just to take out when on day trips when on holiday (easy to slip in pocket) probably do have to have a steady hand, but beats carrying a big cancorder
#12
I had one of these but video quality was poor even compared to my £150 Canon SX130.

For £70 it's not too bad I guess but don't expect superior picture quality or advanced functions. You can only record and that's it. No still shots, no optical zoom, no settings etc.

Yes, and your £150 Canon is awful compared with broadcast quality Sonys. Please compare like with like!

It is what it is, point and shoot for £70, then slip it into your pocket. Ultra portable(about the size of an iPhone) and does the job. One button and great for the kids to mess about with as well.

A good deal

Not sure exactly but alot of youtubers are now using a wide angle magnetic lens on the Flip, e.g. Bower .45X or a handy bundle by Flip Amazon, which helps to increase the field of view considerably. Review video.

edit: pls note this pic does not show the Flip MinoHD 2nd Gen, it's just to demo the wide angle lens which is compatible with all Flip models I believe.

Well, I bought mine 4 months ago when it cost £120 so for appr. £30 more you could've got a camera with quite a few settings (as opposed to none), optical zoom, still shots and tons more functions.

But as I said above, for £70 it's not too bad but don't expect anything special. It won't make better videos than your average camera or a high-end smartphone.

A FREE hdmi cable?
Won't be any good.
You gotta pay at least £79 for a decent cable. :|

Why would you want a £79 cable for a £70 camera? You planning on watching all your videos on the Flip?

Don't think so but it would fit the one Alicia linked above. But that isn't the 2nd gen flip mino, don't get confused! Look at the proportions:

What is the difference between the 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation Flip? I am a newcomer to this.
#23
I think these will definitely come down in price when certain retailers are trying to get rid of stock.
