It's the 3 year warranty for a much used/abused 4 stroke engine that makes the deal better

Just keep the receipt

I don't think you can go wrong with this deal & I will be getting one. Already got the morning off work because the last time they had a strimmer on offer it had sold out by 4pm the day it went on offer.

These look like a rebadged mountfield mower

Einhell of Germany makes Florabest lawnmowers ..

is there anything better out there for the money? looking at equivalent would be another £50.

is this any good?

It's gotta be a good deal for the money - especially with the 3 year warranty

With the latest UK weather conditions and the time of year, the more relevant question is "Will you get one"?

If in doubt, purchase first and return for a full refund (unused) if, after examining the machine, you're not happy.

Customers who purchased the Spring 2013 Lidl Florabest model gave good reviews after use (Google it). That one was manufactured by McCulloch

Four left on the shelf in Corby after my 8am shop :)
#11
Picked one up this morning, looks good so far.

Grabbed mine from Norwich at 8am and I took the first one - still a couple of stacks left over. It's heavy stuff!
#13
This looks identical to my Makita B&S mower I picked up last year from ITS.

Last year I purchased a Lidl petrol mower and it was returned by me because I could not get the grassbox to fit the mower. They had no more left to replace so we obtained a refund. Still using my trustworthy Hayter. Lidl's have the Florabest back again - has anybody had problems assembling the mower and grassbox and is it OK? Not sure if t try another one or not. Very many thanks

Collected mine at 08:10 yesterday morning from the Kings Lynn store. There was one left and the fella on the till told me they had sold 8 in the first 6 minutes. Used mine already on a lawn that's about 2 tennis court size, took less than an hour. Seemed really good but where the grass was a few inches long it did bog down although the engine never stopped and the grass was still damp. So much easier than the Bosch electric mower I've been using and started first pull everytime. The self drive speed is just a slow walking pace. Not sure of the 3 year warranty on the engine, the B&S manual says 2 years unless the Lidl warranty takes priority? If your garden is big enough then this mower is definitely a good buy.

Thanks for your reply to our query. It sounds as though it would be worth us heading to Lidl to buy if they have any more left.

All gone now in my local LIDL

Bought a Florabest petrol mower April 15th 2013. This morning used it for 2nd time this year and it simply stopped working. I cannot locate my receipt but paid via debit card so have all necessary details. I have emailed LIDL so am waiting to see if they will now honour the 3 year guarantee. Could have bought cheaper but the 3 year guarantee persuaded me that this was good value. Hope LIDL come through as I don't want a long drawn out 'fight' about this.
#19
Have you got petrol in it? Ho ho.
Seriously petrol mowers can be temperamental. Mines about 30 yes old, always had to fiddle about, but, it still goes.
#20
If only these lasted like they used to, a family member of mine has a 50 year old self propelled mower, still going strong.

I bought the last of the Briggs and stratton engined florabest mowers a few years ago, never missed a beat with only minimal maintenance.

Fresh petrol? Modern petrol goes off very quickly. Last season's will gum up your carb.

I'm on my third petrol mower now and love my latest one, the first was a Honda which lasted two years, after two years the engine just stopped so i took it for repair and was going to cost £200 for a new motor so I ave up on it. The I bought a cheap mountfield which lasted one season, after 4-5 months in the garage when I came to use it the thing just wouldn't start (I still have it but not used in a few years).

Two years ago I then bought a Makita one fro Axminster for £250, it's the best by far, had for two years now and used it last weekend for it's third season and still flawless. Highly recommended, only another £50 over this one.

Don't forget you put it away in Oct/Nov and then get it out 4/5 months later. It,s rather like leaving your car for that time and expecting it to go without any faffing. Electric mowers etc generally work(or not) but if they don't they have usually had it. Petrol mowers /strimmers are different beasts. They do take a little TLC.
PS. My mowers often don't want to start especially in spring, but after coaxing they get going and work all season.

bought one from Stanmore, worked for 20 minutes and them would not start. took it back and got a refund, made the mistake of getting a replacement from the Edgware branch. Took it home, set it all up and the damn thing wouldn't start either. went back and got another refund. Don't buy this model from lidl unless, obviously a fault batch

Regarding the "3 year warranty" you must always remember the lidl 3 year warranty is actually 1 year return to the shop (statutory warranty) then 2 further years of manufacturer warranty, this will almost always require you to send the item back the manufacturer for repair, and as lidl stuff comes from Germany for the most part then a heavy item like this will cost a fortune to ship overseas.

This is commonly a complaint for lidl stuff that breaks after a couple of years, often the will refund the shipping cost IF you argue the case, but its still a big headache and honestly most people cant be bothered and bin it and buy a new item rather then going to the hassle of booking overseas delivery and dealing with the hassle of all that.

Just be aware and google the many thousands of posts and web pages dealing with the this "return to manufacturer" warranty at Lidl. For £20 items its worth a punt, for £100+ im not so sure.

Oh and as for lawmowers or any petrol powered garden equipment, pay the extra and buy something with a briggs and stratton engine, bulletproof motors that will last for decades. My mower is 25 years old and starts first pull very time after 7 months of winter storage.

How could you possibly have a "3 Year Return to the shop Warranty"?

Even John Lewis will refer you to the manufacturer after 2 years

"Argue the case" means just contacting Lidl with details of the problem and asking for a refund of the returns costs!
Where's the problem with that?

Medion have the same warranty conditions and I've never had a problem (re. costs) with returning an item during their 3 year warranty period.

Regarding the Briggs & Stratton engine - there's no "extra" involved - look at the spec in the deal title!

Of course there is nothing to stop you contacting lidl and asking for a postage refund, after you have sent it and waited for the results... the simple fact is a majority of people wont want to do it and when told to send it back to Germany by the manufacturer, they will bin it and buy a new one. I voted neither way i am just pointing out that Lidl 3 year warranty isn't what a lot of people think so bear it in mind.

My reference to briggs & stratton engines was general, not specific to this deal or mower.

Has anyone had problems witht he petrol pipes - mine all perished very quickly and though they did send replacements it was quite hard to fit them as they are not quite the right size for the jonb.
