Just picked up £60 worth of stuff for £30 at the Hertford store - five-way plug extension, ironing board, hanging basket plus loads of bits and bobs. Loads of wallpaper and paint left at my local store, but tools, gardening and furniture had already been ransacked.
no frills - that;; be all the stores !

I think stores that are being bought by B&Q are possibly having less discounts....
which ever store you go to over the next few weeks, check the prices before you buy anything, there was a member of staff shouting 80% off in my local store the other day and when you get to the till it was 30 - 50% off the items, loads of people were questioning her about this and then she says its what ever discount the tills give you ! bit sneaky that, some of the pensioners where stocking up plants , paint wallpaper thinking they were really cheap to find out there were not once they got to the tills, and now ive gone through my receipt some items i bought which said 40% off were only10% ( phoneline filters & shower hose)
Went down in the end.. not much left by 1pm - wasn't overly busy, but then there wasn't much left.
VanDutch
anyone been yet? any idea of how busy it is? Might have a quick look, but if it's really busy, I don't think I'll bother.

I'm thinking the same. Bad enough to get in and out of on a Saturday when not busy! Still, could be some bargains to be had....:S

Went to the local Focus closing down sale - discounts meant what little stock they had was almost as cheap as B&Q! No wonder they folded; sad for the staff but it's a tough world out there if you don't keep up.

Could be, there was a pallet full of the stuff and people were filling their boots (literally).

went in the winnersh one and only 20% off mostly, some stuff 30%....strangely fairly empty shelves......obviously some people are stupid and dont see they are still expensive even with the discounts
Thanks OP for the heads up on the box fan reductions - we love these after using them on holiday in Majorca for the last 12 years.....bought one for us, one for my Mum and one for my sister yesterday in Cramlington :D
What are their power tool prices like? I'm after a belt sander.
I just got back from my local, ended up buying enough wallpaper for 3 rooms! I wasn't planning on decorating but looks like I am now! :D
mookydudz
I get they need to make some money back but they're an expensive DIY shop anyway. Reducing things gradually is a pain in the ar*e for me as i just want a free shed!! :D

If it was tescos doing the reducing then you might of had a chance!

Just checked link and has closure dates on there now for each store. Not sure how much is left anywhere or indeed if the warehouses have been cleared out.
ive just posted in the other thread with the discount that my store had today, they are not the same as the website or their facebook pages says for items like the kitchens, bathroom suites, mowers. i think its different in each store, and ive had massive rows with a few on the facebook page who say they are staff from stores who have huge discounts, also my local had plenty of paint, wallpaper, furniture, plants, a few sheds, hundreds of mowers, light bulbs and more, it was dead in there with people walking out saying its still to expensive
They opened one in MK recently, went there out of curiosity - what a dump and waste of my time...

Just dregs left here in Burnley - Can't wait till B&M take it over next month
Spot on there Pinkcalculator......it's the same in Consett.

Purchased one of these around 12 years ago (older model). Never let me down. So easy to use and takes me around 10 mins to cut front and back lawn. It takes my neighbour just over an hour for same area with fly thingy lol. Heat added.
8 left in Wednesfield store earlier today.

http://everythingmustbesold.com/special-offers/

I bought one Yesterday they are marked up as £169.99 - 10% in my store but went through the till at -25%.
The Focus Champion mowers are good..Briggs and stratton motors.

I bought an older model nearly 10yrs ago and it's never missed a beat...drag it back out of the shed after winter every year and it always starts first time.

I'M LOOKING TO PURCHASE A TIN OF FOCUS 'WORLD OF COLOUR' EMULSION MATT PAINT IN IVORY WHITE. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS OR KNOW IF IT IS POSSIBLE TO BUY FROM SOME OTHER OUTLET PLEASE??
do they have any stores in birmingham??? :S
Thanks I will check my local store to see if they have anything I fancy.
I have used Focus emulsion in the past and found it to be quite reasonable quality.

update : - In my local store they are only giving 25% off normal price. I didn't bother getting any.

Anyone know how long these stores will remain open ? Should be good for bargain hunters.

Till the stock has gone. Expect reductions will be greater as time goes on but you take a chance in waiting. I did not find anything else there worth buying at the moment.

wouldnt expect much...the bracknell one closed down some time ago and even on the last day with 50%+ off they were STILL more expensive than B&Q

a few items were 75% off but jumble sale stuff and stuff i could get cheaper elsewhere
I painted the hallway last week in this .Not bad but needed 3 coats (green on top of magnolia) .Make sure you work out how much you need as they are not doing refunds or getting any more stock

If anyone is interested the woking store was selling garden tables with 6 chairs for £90. Had loads of them in stock, all stacked up on the shop floor. Comes in 3 large boxes. 2 of the chairs are the armchair type. Think it was the wentworth model! Loads of white emulsion paint in 2.5lt, 5lt and 10lt. Had bathroom and kitchen varieties, silk and Matt emulsions. World of colour brand I think!

they did have a few hundred boxes of boarder tiles at £1.00 a box but some Asian guy came in shouting its all mine , its all mine and pushed the staff to one side and helped himself to a few pallets and starting to fill them, with to be honest what looked like bloody bodyguards shielding him!

Lol, know the sort but you're usually accused of racism if you say anything about it.

Two stores close to me closing tomorrow. Will be taking a look. Been told one has been doing a ten items for £1 including kitchen units, paint etc.

Ive been told by a member of staff who lives close to me that this guy has a market stall somewhere in Cardiff and this is how he gets his stock lol and yes they were bodyguards!
hope you bagged a few bargains

The enclosure does look a bit flimsy im just wondering did it rip as a result of adults using it or kids?

just my girls on mine, the rips away at where it attaches to the poles,we got a whole new tramploine from argos and its much better quality than this, the netting is attached the full length of the upright poles and is generally a lot more robust.

this is the one we bought,it gets excellent reviews and is in the sale now at £99.97,buy something really cheap to take it over the £100 and get a £10 argos voucher back...granted it more expensive than the focus one but only by a fiver when you take the voucher into consideration but imo worth it,and stock levels are not too bad for in store pick up.

My parents have the Lithium battery powered version. I have to say I find the front too light weight and the handle isnt wide enough. Not the most comfortable to use. Works well though and the battery charges really fast. In all honestly I think Bosch cut corners in the design to make it cheaper to manufacture.

Ah **** - so when it says "on top of any other promotion", they don't apparently class a 15% discount card as a "promotion". Lesson learnt.

Shame, I was just about to order when I read the last few comments... Guess I'll have to wait for another offer to come around, but maybe that's unlikely with spring looming...?

I don't think this is a mis-price, as I also got this toolbox for £10 last summer from Focus in their clearance. These are probably old stock they never got round to clearing.

As for the tool box, its good and solid, especially the full width handle, but the problem I have with it is that the lid won't stay open and crashes down on your hand when rummaging for stuff....that aside it's still excellent value at £10.

I agree with you about the lid - not this box's finest feature(!) I suspect that after it has had some abuse it might open a bit further and then stay open better?

Regards the price, well the shelf ticket was definitely in the £30 region and that is the same price as most of the on-line suppliers - typically in the £22 region + vat + delivery. I agree with you about it probably being old stock. This box doesn't currently seem to be on the Stanley website so I doubt it's a recent item. Whatever, £10 is a cracking price.

Great, been looking for something to store my 26'' tool in.
I'd still want some tools with it for a tenner.
FWIW the waterproof toolbox deal I mentioned is for a Stanley Fatmax 23". It's £20 at B&Q. Obviously a bit smaller and a bit more expensive, but has the benefit of being waterproof (IP53), rather than just splashproof.
