Depends if that's all you're buying, delivery is £4.99 for the player on it's own.

However, delivery for orders over £50 is free.

But you have to put p+p in the title as you have to buy something else to get the free p+p

Well spotted Mikeoche, I didn't see that.

£24.99 delivered - for a dvd player that's upscaling to 1080p and has a USB playback ? Can't be bad.
#11
Does anybody know if the USB port is on the front, I can't tell from the picture.
#12
Title should be £24.99 delivered, a little misleading but still a good deal
#13
Beaware and read this! - It is an Ebuyer own brand even though it sounds German or Swedish

#15

#17

#18

Would be helpful if you posted the actual LINK to the player ONLY. That goes for both you and the OP.

It's here anyway... http://www.ebuyer.com/product/168915

I somehow doubt eBuyer would let you purchase a 42 inch television, and DVD player for £19.99. The DVD player's standalone price is £23.99.

Delivery (at Super Saver Delivery) is £4.79. This means it'll be £28.78.

Hardly anywhere near the £19.99 the OP claims it is.

Foehn & Hirsch: interesting name for what is basically a box containing a collection of Chinese junk electronics :whistling:

I've ordered at £19.99, let's see what happens.

For playing DVD-Rs and DIVX, I find 'chinese junk electronics' work better than any of the major brands!

I doubt if anyone out there seriously imagines that a £19.99 DVD player is German or Swedish - not unless the Euro or Krona have crashed while I've been on my way home. :)
#26
sounds good, worth a punt, would be very interested if i knew you could unlock to make multi region?

i got a sumvision now, previously i had toshiba which had a slimmed down software version of what i have on the sumvision now, the blue one if anyone is familiar with it...so yess all big brands are chinese junk to some extent...just some are better build some are not...

Decent player but doesnt read files from my 1TB external drive. Works fine with a 4GB memory stick though.

Yes the USB port is on the front.
#29
Got one to replace my faulty sumvision phoenix (the stops playing discs error). To answer earlier question, the USB port is on the front right as you look at the player. Works fine with xvid files on my usb stick. A big USB button on the remote is a lot more user-friendly than the 'goto' button you had to use on the sumvision to get to the usb menu.

So what?
Most companies do this for cheap products.
I've got two Foehn and Hirsch Tvs, and they are really good. Ebuyer also gave them a 3 year warranty, so no need to deal with any foreign companies.

Anybody know what the warranty is on this?
#31
nice! was looking for a dvd player for cheap for a christmas present...however looking at the prices of some of them I was going to just buy a ps2 slim and use that as a dvd player as that has always been a great way to watch dvds for myself.

This though has upscaling, so my question is, should I buy this or get a ps2 slim, as they are around £30, obviously no upscaling with the ps2 slim but it can then play some good old games!

I'm tempted to go for this to see what the upscaling is like!
Any thoughts?
#32
No, this won't play mkv's as someone asked earlier... You'll need a WDTV/Xtreamer/PS3 or something of that ilk...as a standalone player.
#33
Ebuyer will never get another penny off me. I have used them twice and BOTH times the goods were damaged. The last one being the Xenta DVD player that was on offer for £19.99 delivered and posted on here, turned up damaged and the USB port didn't work. Got them to collect it at their cost, Ebuyer had it back on a Friday, by the following Friday still no refund, Paypal refunded me as Ebuyer were not forthcoming with my money. They sorted the collection no problem and responded to emails well, but once they got it back the emails were not so quick to be replied to and then just gave excuses as to why they hadn't refunded yet, quick to take money but not to give it back.

Sorry Ebuyer, but 100% failure rate from 2 separate orders does not fill me with confidence.

If you have a HD tv that will upscale anyway, get a PS2 and play some classics
If you buy from Ebuyer ot'll probably be damaged on delivery anyway and you'd wished you went for the PS2!
#35
just thought that it's funny, because "Foehn & Hirsch" sounds like a fancy high end brand, that's all.

The upscaling on these players is usually quite bad. I personally can't stand the yellow tint of the upscaled picture on my sumvision.

Thanks!
It's scary to think ebuyer are bad though, I always get told to use them when it comes to pc parts and things, my mates and dad have never had a problem with them but I think a laptop me sister got from them did go funny and then they said they can't do anything about it...I felt bad too as I told her to get it from there.

What's it like compared to the sumvision one? I've had my sumvision player for a while now and I was going to get another for the spare room. But now I've seen this I'm in two minds
#38
The thing is people will go pay hundreds of pounds for a tele that upscale anyway, then they will go pay 20 odd pound for a dvd player to bung on it :-D

That is incorrect. Granted the difference is not that great, but you if you compare the two you will see a difference. Intro titles are always a big give away, jagged edges along the letters instead of smooth.
It's done with a technique called interpolation. There may be TV's out there that will interpolate, but not many.

So, gotta ask, anyone unlock this thing to regionless? I've got DVDs from the US and it's the main reason I still need a stand-alone DVD player as the PS3 won't co-operate. It'd be nice to switch to HDMI so I can stop using scart.
