It's a low end processor, but not crap. Do you actually know what you're talking about?

It's aimed at users that don't need massive amounts of CPU power.

Haha well edited!!!! but too late :-)

Quite a good deal for the price as long as you realise that you wont be doing any intensive graphics stuff, the GPU looks very slow, http://www.notebookcheck.net/SIS-Mirage-3-672MX.20160.0.html.

The rest of the system looks pretty good though, and the dual core celeron is very fast despite what some people say. I have this CPU in my laptop and find it more than suitable for my needs (software development, in multiple virtual machines).

I'd seriously consider this as a development machine as I would just put Linux on it anyway.

You're also missing the point completely. Some people don't want to pay an extra £100. They want a laptop they can install a free OS on.

The celeron runs a lot cooler than AMD chips, I traded in my TL-60 AMD for this celeron t3000 laptop. It encodes DVDs at 55fps where as the TL-60 could only manage 30fps at best. The celeron does not run above 65oC at full speed whereas the AMD was nearlty touching 90oC!

well just benchmark both cpu and the amd one is 1078 and intel t3000 1152. so yeh guess this system isnt too bad im running on a intel T5750 myself and they are really good.
#18
It looks ok to me. What do you guys want for under £300. Nice keyboard too.

It was established in the past that the "value" Ebuyer range were Clevo laptops and this seems to be a similar same thing with Ebuyer brand name added. This has a larger hard drive and different graphics.
#21
ukjedi has pointed out some good points and i would have to agree :)
why would i want to pay another £100 for an overheating amd cpu and failed version of windows?
voted hot and rep'd :)

may not be a desktop replacement, but for £299 to get a dual-core lappy... has anyone actually found a £299 dual-core alternative yet? hmmm
#22
Bad processor and no OS, add 50-100£ and u could get a branded laptop with good processor and Win7 OS:whistling:

It's out of my budget bracket but it is a good find OP especially with the additional RAM (4GB pre-installed is a saver IMHO), the larger hard disk but also the six cell battery.

Even if it doesn't come with a bundled OS a lot of people already have spare Windows COAs kicking around to use as well, especially if using a Linux distribution is not ideal.

I suppose at the end of the day it all comes down to what people can realistically afford to spend on computer hardware especially with the current financial climate in the UK - if I was purchasing a laptop then £300 would be my maximum limit, as I have several legal copies of Windows 2000, XP, Vista and 7 kicking around from the work I do.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

I was at this system ... it looks decent for the money, but the fact that it's an unknown brand and has no OS means I'd rather pay a little more. It's a false economy to refuse to pay an extra 50 quid or so.
#27
If you need an OS then you can get a similar Dell Inspiron 15 with windows 7 for £349:

Then why does it cost almost as much as something with all that power? (i.e. DELL i3 15" for sub £400 with cashback and windows 7)

Ebuyer WERE doing a no OS T6500 or T6600 laptop for £299 before it sold out, which was a very good deal. This deal is laughable.

Sorry I mean this link for £349 (same spec)

Same spec?!?!?
WRONG!!!

£478 for the same spec.

You need to upgrade RAM, battery & add a webcam in the screen.

This site is full of idiots who don't know their **** from their elbow!

FU - I wrote same spec referring to the previous Dell link that I posted incorrectly.

Why compare a laptop with a lower spec? Of course it's going to make it cheaper! What a pointless exercise!
#35
so anybody know a better deal for a new laptop that is good for email / internet / bit of word and storing photos / printing photos.

My 78 year old dad wants a new ;lappy and as I don't want to have to teach him Vista / Win7 and I have a couple of spare Win XP COAs so OS is not a problem.

Any other ideas or is this a good deal - want to keep it under £300 delivered!
