Football Manager 2007 PC

Best price i've seen. Super addictive and owned :)

Feeder Clubs - Brand new to Football Manager 2007, and one of the most requested features is the addition of feeder clubs to the game. This new addition works in all the ways you would expect it to in real life. You can establish your club as the small team who receives loan players from a larger club or a large club looking for support getting your youngsters match experience by loaning them out. Have the first option on players from clubs, and schedule pre-arranged friendlies each season by simply asking your board for a feeder relationship and choose from the list they compile.
Youth Revamp - A complete revamp of youth teams sees full youth squads for each team that has a youth set-up
User Friendly - New easier to use default skin, along with hints and tips throughout the game, and an improved tutorial. In addition to better feedback from your assistant manager and scouts as well as lots more media, customisation and multiple row selection

They haven't made a decent one since CM 01/02.

Still, it's a good price for this, even though I hate it personally.

To be fair, I did lose hours, weeks and months to the game, but that was just in crying in frustration at the hundreds, if not thousands, of bugs and coding errors that make up the "FM Experience" these days.

simply not true.

oops sorry caps lock

I don't really see how you can say that isn't true, simply as SI have released loads of patches and such to try and work around the bugs that are in the games. They've admitted themselves that it is very buggy.

As I've said, CM 01/02 was the last great one - simply because it was virtually bug-free.

I have spent 11.5 DAYS playing my current game of FM ...

Seriously, it should come with a health warning.
#10
I've been playing this version for a few months now, and I've never had a problem with any of the bugs in the game. I've downloaded the patches for this version (2 of them - not exactly loads tbh).

One thing that has improved this year is the all is that after you've patched the game, the saved games from the previous patch still work.

All in all an excellent game, even better I got this for £6.50 a few months back when a deal for it was posted on here. :-D

Still quite expensive considering FM2008 will be in the shops in a few months time.

As expected, £14.98 at Amazon.co.uk!

FM's don't normally get into the shops until the season is already underway (usually September time) so as this season is still going its a long time to wait if you haven't got this version!!!
#13
I also got this for £6ish a couple of months ago from Salisbury City FC.

To say it has loads of bugs is ridiculous. I am assuming you dont own a copy Gaz. The original CM4 had lots of bugs, as most start from scratch games do, but a few versions down the line it doesnt. Plus the version 2 patch clears most up.

FM2008 wont be out til at least November so only 7 months to wait!
#14
And by the way.....its only £13.79 HERE!

I've owned every single FM and CM ever released. FM2007 isn't a "start from scratch game" - it's the THIRD version of that particular game. The engine and database is in no way related to CM4, so I'm not sure why you're mentioning that? And there have been hundreds of bugs in FM2005, FM2006 and this one.

You've also contradicted yourself totally by saying it doesn't have lots of bugs but then mentioning there's at least 2 patches!

Actually, it's misleading to call it the Version 2 patch - they released 7.0.1 a month after it came out, only to find that this caused loads more bugs, and had to release an updated 7.0.1 only a week after that. The 7.0.2 one then came out in February, so they've really released 3 patches.

I would urge anyone who doesn't believe that this game has loads of bugs to have a look at the Sports Interactive forums and you'll see hundreds and hundreds of pages of people reporting various bugs that haven't been fixed.

Good price but i also agree CM 01/02 was the daddy and Champy 97/98 was also very special

If you read my post properly, I said CM4 was a start from scratch game which had loads of bugs. FM is based on CM4 even though it has a different name. CM4 was the first in the series.

With a game this big and complex it is inevitible that a few bugs will occur but if the patch (which there were 2) fixes them then why complain? To say that all the bugs spoil your enjoyment is laughable. Im glad you're not my boss if you're really that hard to please!!

Anyway, if all the FM's have so many bugs in them, why do you continue to buy them?? :giggle:

I also agree with this.

And I would like to add to the list, Championship Manager for Windows, the very first CM ever. Classic!! :-D

This is hardly a bargain it's about the standard price but you can get it for about a quid less on several other sites:)

FM is not based on CM4 at all! Mainly because when SI split up, CM got the right to keep using the engine, and FM got the right to keep using the database. The engine in FM is a totally new one to that shown in CM4 and CM 03/04. It looks similar, sure, but it's built from scratch.

Of course it's inevitable that any huge game has bugs, but I draw the line when they detract from the playing experience.

I don't want games where I win on penalties to turn into defeats when I get to the news screen.

I don't want games where £150,000 of my budget goes out the window because there is a bug which makes me install USH every season.

I don't want my players to leave the club when they reject a contract extension.

I don't want huge numbers of players getting injured, far more than happens in real life.

I don't want my saved games becoming corrupted because I have used / accessed them too much.

If you can quite happily play a game that does the above, then fair enough. But I don't. I buy it every year, as every year they promise that it's sorted - but it never is!

Neither does mine, FM is easily the best football sim out there.

I got this from Dvd.co.uk for £14.99 a few weeks back.

It does have one serious problem; the fact you can't sell your players. You have have to take 25%-50% off the transfer value to sell all but a few to have any chance of selling them, while you're forced to pay double the transfer value of most players you buy. No idea how they ignored such a huge flaw and released the game.

The other problem is the "super goalie" glitch. You'll often find yourself scoring 2-5 in every game, then every once in a while the game decides to stop you winning by making the goalie get a 10/10 rating by saving 10-20 shots, with the other team scoring in the 90th minute. It happens way too often.

Seriously, go onto the SI Forums and have a look at the Bugs thread. You'll find hundreds. They don't happen every time - presumably, if they did, SI would be able to programme them out - but they do happen frequently.
#25
I think the game play far outweighs any bugs you may encounter...couple this with the price and you get great value for money.

I banned myself from buying champ man years ago as it was savagely addictive! Might have to buy this one although I don't think my g/f will be very impressed.

That first point seems pretty reasonable to me really, it's pretty much the same in real life... if you want to get rid of a player for some reason you can't always expect clubs paying over the odds to take them off your hands - look at people like Boumsong & Bramble at Newcastle. At the same time if your trying to buy other teams best players, then they'll try to get as much as possible for them.

As for super goalies it can happen, some times goalies just have a good day against good teams, how many times have Portsmouth & Blackburn been saved from a hammering by their keeper?

Have a look here: http://community.sigames.com/eve/forums/a/frm/f/4642084852 and then try and tell me I'm lying when I say there are hundreds of bugs affecting this game.

Wrong. All Eidos got when SI split from them was rights to the Championship Manager name and the interface of the game. SI kept the source code, which included the database AND the game engine. Eidos (and Beautiful Game studios) then went and created a brand new game from scratch for CM5, which was one of the reasons it was released so much later after FM05, which was basically an updated version of the final CM game before the SI/Eidos split.

Yes, the game has bugs. But it's an incredibly small percent that actually have a serious affect on the game and prevent people playing it, and to suggest FM is the only PC/Mac game to have such a situation would be wrong because it happens with plenty of games. Posting a link to the bugs forum is a double-edged sword anyway, partly because a lot of the threads that get made in there aren't serious bugs and rather things people think are wrong with the game.

I've played the CM/FM series extensively, my current FM game alone is in 2031 (which throws the 'accessing a game too much corrupts it' thing right out of the window), and while it does have the odd thing I'd change because it's not as perfect as I'd imagine it to be, a lot of the problems within the game are things like that. It's the best management game around, and when you compare the likes of CM to it.. there's really no question what game you'd buy.
