Yes, it is. The game's Steamworks, so the game will activate on Steam wherever you buy it from.
Maybe things have changed this year but in the past (and on FM12) the game has had so many bugs and glitches until the first patch release it really isn't worth it in my opinion

It includes a "Classic mode" this year, which is meant to go back towards faster gameplay. "Normal" mode is still in too.
It has been Steamworks only for a good few years and it's the same this year. What's wrong with Steam, out of interest? Works fine for me.

I can't help but completely disagree with this. With the exception of maybe 2 versions. The game is completely playable out of the box. (FM12 was not one of these versions)

It's annoying how the patches change the game engine so much though, because you can spend ages tweaking your tactics to perfection only to see them rendered useless as soon as the next patch comes along. This wouldn't be too bad if you had the option of not updating, but unless you leave Steam permanently in offline mode, it forces you to update.

Picked up mine for £11.38 (sendit.com) in Feb. I'd been playing a downloaded copy of it till then but refused to pay until it was fully patched and fixed :p

Sadly this man is right, I am proud of my collection of FM boxes but they are just taking up space.
I've been away from the game for a couple of years but the new classic mode which eschews a lot of the minutiae that has made recent versions just way too long to get going has drawn me back, damn you SI :D
