a saving of around £100. great deal

I know the standard Elite has dropped the HDMI cable in the box but do these 250gb 'Super Elite' consoles include one? I ask as Game.co.uk lists one in the MW2 console bundle.

*EDIT* It was showing as included - they have now changed it.
#3
Super elite has no hdmi, component or audio dongle in box :(
#4
Great price!

Not for me though, sadly. I really want to get this bundle but I want to pick it up from a high-street store so I can trade in my current console and some games.

Heat added.
#5
nice price! blu ray players alone cost like 200 quid.

Full HDMI with Audio dongle £5

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.24868~r.91142929

Also now sold on Ebay if you want to get it from UK.....

This one turns the xbox off when you change channel :x

Actually the 360 does do audio over HDMI.

Means if you have an HDMI AV receiver you can use just one cable, instead of using the optical audio dongle thing with the Microsoft cable.

EDIT: Jamman just beat me to it!

Hmm... This or the Modern Warfare Super Elite package...

True - and HDMI 1.2a (the standard to which the Xbox's HDMI operates) is capable of carrying SACD & DVD-Audio
(this is superior to optical audio quality levels).

It's called a 'super Elite' to distinguish it from the 120gb Elite.
Is that really hard to work out?

Yeah it is as us over at playstation fan club, we just like to keep things simple instead of silly names.. we call our consoles a PS3, 20gig, 40gig, 60 gig,80 gig ,120gig etc so's not to confuse anyone into thinking they're getting somtheing super elite if you know what i mean! ;-)

I expect more than a few (like me) find the 120gb HDD too small.
We can now back games up fully to the HDD, we are getting 2gb arcade games, there are full game downloads and we have HD films to download.
I'd have thought the need for 250gb+ is pretty obvious.

As for backing up games on your HD that was like the best con that MS ever invented. Firstly they get you to pay an extortionate price to get a bigger HD, they then charge you a rip off price for a game on DVD format then convince you to fill your HD up with a media that you already own on disk; ultimately leading you to overload your hard drive with something that isnt really necessary causing you to sooner or later need more and more space and a higher demand for more of there drives..LMAO.

To get the full potentual of running games from your HD everyone needs to be running from a HD whilst playing online for everyone to enter the game at the same speed (sync), everyone knows that!

Anyway the loading times are that much of a difference to really warrant wasting your HD. If loading times are that bad running from disk in the first place that just tells me that MS are shipping with slow DVD players.

Can you believe my ps3 works and loads just dandy.

The Xbox HDD is not at all limited.

I can also use an external drive for pictures, music and movies - and an external drive on the Xbox (formatted properly) is not limited to a Fat32 drive & 4gb file sizes.

Whats the external drive got to do with anything, you can do that on the most basic PS3 and install a 500 gig internal HD...whats your point?

My point is whats the real use of the 250gig HD?

You seem to be blissfully unaware that every game on XBL comes with a free demo.
You can get all those freeebie games with a silver XBL account.
You don't actually need to pay for anything extra if you don't want to.

All of the above is the same on the PS3 plus you get Vidzone, which is basically your own customisable MTV for free..(none of this buying videos nonsense) and we get BBC Iplayer even on the basic PS3

Just correcting your (you dont have to pay for anything if you dont want to remark) so's not to misguide anyone, you need to pay to play other members online with XBL xbox live.

And just so you know that basic PS3 that you refered to doesnt incure any charges to play other members online, or to 6 way video conference on Playstation network... its all free!:whistling:

Yeah right, cos 2 wireless controllers, the brand new Forza game and a 250gb Elite for £239
(less than the cost of the new bare 120gb PS3 slim)
is such a weak & so-so deal, to you, eh?

Still, you're not a PS3 fanboy, right?

Oh your refering to a barebone? (basic) PS3 that fully suports free online, blu ray movies, DLNA, wifi, web browser and a fully upgradeable hard drive without losing any warranty straight out of the box, right?

Hmmm isnt that like comparing a BMW M3 with a 911 Turbo?

Just curious, but how much would you say it was to buy a stand alone Blu Ray player just to get a 360 near the standard of a basic PS3?

And how much is the wifi dongle 59.99 right? I dont see your point?:whistling:

Oh, and i've been using xbox live since the orginal xbox, playing the likes of soldier of fortune 2 online etc. I know all I need to know about xbox and xbl....:-D
#14
I vote this COLD as this has Microsoft written on it lmao..

It still doesnt allow you to upgrade utilise none MS hard drives, the ps3 does without killing your warranty.
It still doesnt support blu ray.
It still doesnt support most of your PC controllers like the ps3 does.
It still doesnt allow you to use it as a freeview recorder like the PS3.
It still doesnt fully support DLNA as good as the PS3.
It still doesnt allow you to watch online TV like BBC Iplayer (like the ps3).
It still doesnt have a web browser like the ps3.
It still doesnt fully support industry standard bluetooth devices like the ps3 does
It still hasnt got vidzone (ps3 does) lol
It stil doesnt supports 6 way web cam conferance, ps3 does. Note: You 360 camera works on your PS3 woohoo!
It still doesnt have Sony printed on it (lol)

Does it support audio through HDMI? I dont think so..(might be wrong)

It still doesnt support free on line gaming, ps3 does.
It still selling at an extortionate price, the PS3 has dropped.
Its still suffers with the highest failure rate of any console made to date....Woohoo!

I've been red ringed 3 times and nearly everyone i know who owns one, knows someone that has been red ringed RROD (i still have my 360 but no longer pay for online gaming), I've gone all SONY!!

X B O X 3 6 0 is a cold buy, the sooner people realise that the sooner it will drop to a price that we would expect to consider it a consumable.

The 360 is an exception to the saying, "You Get What You Pay For" ; cos you dont!

p.s. i'm a ps3 fanboy, i actually put that comment in to poke some fun :) don't know who the hell still pays this much for xbox when you can get the far superior full home entertainment system from the ps3 for roughly the same price if not less.

ukez

I guess getting your silly fanboy garbage scrubbed out the first time just didn't get through, huh?
#17
I dont understand fanboys, just buy them all and be done with it
#18
the xbox is a deal, but the price of the hard drive is just extortionate, theyve got the monopoly on this.

if i iwant to stick a 500gb hard drive in my xbox i shoud be free to do so, instead i have to be worried about getting banned.
#19
why are the ps3 fanbois so defensive
ps3 is a good machine and is finally at a good price thats good be happy with it

I have a PC and xbox360 on a home wire network - plus a netbook (for all my web/iplayer needs!!!)
and recently decided to upgrade my PC by putting a Blu-ray writer in it!!!
So for me it was the choice of a ps3 or a blu-ray writer which cost me less then half of a ps3..
Also my PC is currently Vista - soo to be Win7 Home Premium, and before that WinXP Media Centre Ed.
SO i get the tv piped to my 360 no problem...as well as other media video and picture and music so no need
to put most not game stuff directly on the 360!

This XBOX deal is very good and tempting so H&R from Me
an Xboss with 250Gb HDD would suite me rather well b'cos i have an nice little library of 360 games
I dont need a PS3 as it not significantly better then a 360 - which I already have
are there some games on the PS3 i would like to play - yeah Heavy rain and the and a hand full of others
but I busy enough with my 360 and PC and the fact that my shelf has unplayed games on it - cos of the deals posted on hotdeals ;-P

the 360 is a darn good game machine and media hub and the upcoming Natal stuff sounds mint too
so generally the deal the OP posted is a very good deal not much need to post it COLD at all

btw xbox live is worth it ;-p

ukez is possibly the biggest idiot I've ever seen on this site.

you say that...

no i won't....

i will leave this fan boy talk aload of crap...

Your arguement would of been great if ya didn't say sony is capitals like ya shouting it in my face.
#22
one more point to ukez, you have mentioned that its better at everything then the xbox 360, but you missed one arguement.

ITS BETTER AT GAMING!

its a games console... at the end of the day, i have a pc to do half that stuff... I buy the xbox for gaming!!

Actually they don't really have a monopoly, not if you are informed & know what you're doing.

You can fit your own 2.5" hard drive up to 120gb/250gb in the enclosure (the Xbox was firmware limited to 120gb internally......although this must obviously have just changed to 250gb) provided it is the same specific Western Digital HDD Microsoft themselves use.

You'll pay a 'normal' price and I have never heard of anyone ever being banned for doing this.

In fact right now we're waiting to find out which specific 250gb 2.5" drive is used so as to be able to do the same again with the bigger size.

See here - http://www.pcworld.com/article/150970/upgrade_your_xbox_360s_hard_drive_on_the_cheap.html

You can hook up any external HDD you like by USB for pics, music and movies - and for HD movies it is especially nice, as I said before, that the Xbox does not have the Fat32 4gb file size limitation if formatted properly (HFS+).

See here - http://forum.teamxbox.com/showthread.php?t=598663

ukez is simply plain wrong about the Xbox and audio via HDMI, I have a single HDMI cable running to my HD receiver and I get full surround audio and HD images.

We're also getting Sky TV later this month (although as a BBC licence fee payer I cannot see any good reason why the Beeb is only available on the Sony).

ITS BETTER AT GAMING!

It sure is. And that's without taking into account the online systems (PSN missing basics like cross-game chat, a party mode, the ability to join a session in progress, a decent universal invite and join system and so on), the fact that the PS3 has forced installs chewing up multiple GB of your hard drive, large patches for games that take ages to download, downloadable games that have no demos, DLC and games that are available earlier and cheaper on Live, patchy custom soundtrack and trophy support (yeah, I know trophies are now mandatory), only being able to log in with 1 ID at any time and only being able to use 1 headset online etc. etc.

Perhaps ukez knows this, which is why he chose to focus on things that aren't related to gaming in his post. Being able to watch low quality music vids while looking at banner ads for Epson printers and watching 45 second ads between each song is great though, I have to agree, and there is absolutely no way of watching iPlayer or films on Blu-Ray unless you own a PS3!. ;)
#25
I watch iplayer downloads on my 360. It must be a ps3 in disguise...
#26
i have 3 yes 3 xbox 360`s and one ps3!!!
nuff said ps3 is a blu-ray player and thats it!
games online are garbage free or not
i would be happy paying £100 a year for my gold accounts
oh yer the pc i use has bbc iplayer and can be streamed to xbox to watch on tv
oh i also need a brouser on my xbox just incase my pc or laptop or mobile phone stop working at the same time and i cant get on hduk! :-D

guys calm down they are just consoles!

but to pick you up on a point you start by saying "ps3 fanboy" we will call him, forgets to mention cross game chat etc... and i thought well put mate but then you go on to talk about fictional facts about the ps3 which you odviously dont own? you dont watch adverts in between songs on vidzone, infact you can make playlists and watch as many songs as you like full screen with no ads!

all im saying is dont get at someone for picking and choosing what to write in their fanboy rantings but then go and make yourself look just as bad for lying about the other console:roll:

Oneday when you can all afford ALL consoles you will appreciate them all for what they can do, they all have excellent exclusive games and all have plus and minus points as a console/media center!

i wouldnt be without my 360 or ps3, even my wii, DSi and psp have their moments!

you dont watch adverts in between songs on vidzone
Obviously there is no such thing as a free lunch and the product needs to generate some revenues somewhere along the way, so it came as no surprise that in August Vidzone started showing ads, and unfortunately for Vidzone that is where the problems started. Since then many users have complained that those ads are showing before every single video which makes Vidzone kind of pointless because if you watch one of the many music channels you only see ads about every 15-20 minutes.
http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2009/09/11/vidzone-considering-premium/

I was using it today and the Final Destination trailer played after every video I watched
http://www.xtremeps3.com/2009/08/13/vidzone-update-for-aug-13th-2009/

awesome but what is with the final destination trailer playing after each video omg
http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2009/08/17/vidzone-scores-placebo-exclusive/

@vidzone Guy's, I have a birthday party for my 9 year old daughter today, but it keeps playing a trailer for Final Destination...problem
http://twitter.com/psychobudgie

I received an advert for Final Destination after every song I played
http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2009/08/20/motorstorm-vidzone-playlist-–-race-by-day-party-by-night/

Just put Vidzone on, not used it in a while. I get the same annoying add for Final Destination in 3D between every song, and if I forward wind to the next song I get it again. And its the same Ad every time!
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=879134&page=20

What the hell is going on with vidzone, now after every song it's showing the same advert for The Final Destination and it's starting to really get anoying
http://community.eu.playstation.com/playstationeu/board/message?board.id=62&message.id=1530432

Anyway, you get the point. There are banner ads on the Now Playing bar that pops up too, so it's completely false to call the service "ad free". It's ad supported.
