A handful of young men set out to take on the decadent West but are more of a threat to themselves than anyone else in this black comedy from teh creator of BRASS EYE, Chris Morris. Omar (Riz Ahmed) is a devout Muslim living in the United Kingdom who has decided to form a terrorist cell to bring forth a jihad against a culture he believes is dominated by the sinful and ignorant. However, Omar isn't much of leader, and he's assembled an unimpressive team of fellow terrorists, among them Waj (Kayvan Novak), who lacks the brainpower to come up with ideas or direction on his own; Faisal (Adeel Akhtar), who is shy and doesn't have much to say; and Barry (Nigel Lindsay), a recent convert to Islam who tries to make up for his lack of practical knowledge with fierce passion. As Omar and his comrades debate both doctrine and methods, they ponder such notions as using birds as explosive devices, creating video communiqués with a hip-hop flavor, and attacking mosques in an effort to provoke non-violent Muslims. But are Omar and his partners a legitimate threat to the safety of Great Britain, or just four half-bright twenty-somethings with more bluster than imagination?

Understand what your saying but i think this film is very funny, Not because of the terrorism factor or people dying but because of the sheer idiotic and stupidity of the characters, If anything it highlights the fact that most terrorists have a screw loose somewhere and their motives couldnt be further from "the right thing to do by god" than possible

Not gunna lie. I thought this was a damn funny movie. Is it wrong to laugh at taboo'd subjects like terrorists? Maybe. Might I go to hell for finding certain things funny? Probably. But is it best to just enjoy life while you're living? Yep, definitely!

I thought this film was a huge disappointment and unfunny, but I think this type of criticism is unfounded and illogical. I fail to see how making fun of terrorists is insulting to their victims, or why this should be an off limit topic for comedy. Is Charlie Chaplins spoof of Hitler 'The Great Dictator' an endorsement of Nazism then?

Actually, that's a really stupid analogy, since Macaulay Culkin defeats the burgulars, whereas these imbeciles actually kill people at the end without any jokes in that part at all (sitting completely at odds with the rest of the film).

Are you seriously intimating that 'Four Lions' glorifies suicide bombers or that the main protagonists are 'aspirational'? Even the Daily Mail doesn't suggest THAT.

It's a bit slow to start and doesn't really go anywhere, I've seen worse films but then I've seen miles better. Not one I'd want to own to be honest. Worth about 3 quid IMO.

This is well worth watching. Very funny. Makes me want to go and blow something up (That bit was a joke............or was it.....) ;-)

I don't see how someone can diss this film if they only watched 5 mins of it. Next, someone will say "Dad's Army" is an insult to all who died in WW2 or "Dr Strangelove" is an insult to everyone who was scared of nuclear attack during the cold war.

The victims of terrorism have already been asked for their opinion on this film :

Neither, and no, not in the slightest.

What I'm saying is that you're invited as a viewer to laugh at these morons for two hours, except at the very end, there's a very chilling reality which closely mirrors what happens in real life. I'm not quite sure where you got either of your suggestions from, but hopefully me saying the same thing again using different words makes it clearer.

I had the misfortune of sitting in the cinema watching this. Everyone else was laughing. I didn't get it. Awful humor!!!

not everyone seems to get irony...there was a very valid point to the film which should have been apparent to anyone that watched it to the end.

I'm afraid I missed it, unless it was that suicide bombers are misguided idiots but still kill people.
