Frankie Boyle Live £5.98 @ Amazon

MOCK THE WEEK'S resident panel pundit Frankie Boyle graces London's Hackney Empire stage in this, his first live stand-up DVD. Frankie's humour may be darker than dark at times, but his wit is so quick you'll barely have time to chastise yourself before laughing at his deliciously un-PC wisecracks.

Extras:

F**K You Scotland behind the scenes tour diary
Sketches from BBC3 comedy Rush Hour
Drug experiment additional audio material

Russell Howard uses some of the same material as his live shows. Both still funny as hell.

Isn't it the other way round and he uses the jokes in the live show first and then in mock the week. In the live show he says "looking forward to getting that joke into mock the ******* week". Either way he's still quite funny, HOT

You're already going to know if you like Frankie Boyle or not, if you do, this is going to be a treat, regardless.

Yes, there's loads of material you've already seen on Mock the Week (lots of comedians do this), but it's *still* hilarious.

If you've been living under a rock, Frankie is amazingly offensive and bloody funny with it.

Do a bit of research to determine how comedians' acts evolve, including delivery of the material.

You might say that 'Becks' uses the same kick to score a goal or an artist uses the same colours.

It's difficult to fault the mans speed of wit.

I saw him do this show in Bradford last year, and almost all of it was recycled from MtW.

When a man in the audience shouted out "We've heard all these on Mock The Week" (which was true, as at that point every joke he had told was an old one, some of which were two and three years old) he simply replied with "Why don't you f*ck off!"

His audience interaction was also crap, as he just went along the front row looking for someone who fitted in with what he was going to say next ("What do you do, what's your story?...no, can't do anything with that" "What do you do, what's your story?...Nope" )

If you had never seen his act before, then yes, this DVD would be a fantastic buy.

mikeyp said that Russell Howard also uses old material; this is only slightly true, as when we say him in Leeds on his Dingledoodies tour, I think I heard maybe two old jokes on a 1 hour 45 min set.

I was at the same gig in Bradford and I make you spot on with that.
Frankie was poor, the long haired warm up guy [cant remember his name] was better

This dvd was total load of crap, glad we only hired it from a Love film trial we have (genuine new customers) before anyone says.

We watched it last Sat, I love Frankie, I think he his hilarious and used to constantly watch him on MTW and other panel shows.

But if you are a fan, you would have seen the WHOLE content of this DVD 10 times over, not even one new joke in it. His comedy being the way it is, the shock factor, it's funny the 1st, maybe the 2nd time, but rehashed for a couple of years it's dull.

Save your money and get something else.

it was rubbish :(

I've gone the reverse route and thought Frankie was great on the (very rehearsed) Mock the Week then saw his live shows in DVD.

I also wondered about his odd face pulling whenever he tells a joke. That kind of apparently deliberate raise of his glasses when he finishes a joke that got kind of annoying as an effected 'cute' move but may be a genuine twitch (he seems to move oddly in other ways too if you watch him).
