Miele have started their free 10 year and 5 year warranties again. For those not in the know, Miele make the creme de la creme of washing machines - with a build quality expected to last 20 years. Now they're offering 10 year warranties on some some models, and 5 on most of the others.

I've been looking for a Miele washing machine for a few months now, very tempted by:

http://www.clearance-comet.co.uk/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/CategoryDisplay?cgrfnbr=36164&cgmenbr=37087214&noMoreSubs=Y

anyone bought from here before ?

Bad post... Wrong Merchant and no "Go to deal"

The Dixons price was just an example. The deal is the free warranties from Miele. You need to download the claim form from Miele which is where the 'Go to deal' takes you! Perhaps you should read more carefully before being quick to put down a newbie.

The comet clearnace website looks excellent Jase. I've bought tons of stuff years ago from a Comet clearance store and everything is still going strong. Not sure if you'll get much warranty with it, and I wouldn't expect the Miele warranties to be applicable. But worth checking out...

Miele always get the highest quality ratings when they are tested by Which magazine.

They may be expensive but if it saves you buying another washing machine in 5 years time they work out better value in the long run.
#5
I did this at the back end of last year.
10 years worry free washing
no worries about breakdowns & a top class silent machine
a lot of money to outlay when you have 3 kids but well worth it when its on twice a day

Gary, i think you may need to clear your cookies, I can see it fine. And your post above is pretty rude :?
#8
If the go to deal button is there then its rude...

But after clearing cookies in both ie and firefox i cant see it...

This has happened to me once or twice over the years, everyone can see it except you.

So get ya facts straight or shut it.

:giggle:

Dixons seem to be doing the Miele range the cheapest, except they only have 4 models to choose from. And they often have the entry level models out of stock so the website won't even take your order. A bit daft, but hey - still worth checking in on.

The promotion has just started this bank holiday weekend and previous promotions have lasted about a month if they're anything to go by.

Claim form expires 29th July !!!!!

I've spoken to Miele this morning and they've yet to update the downloadable claim forms. They haven't even updated all the washing machines to say they come with the 10/5 year warranty (the W3740 is case in point) but I have been assured the site will be updated asap and the warranties do apply starting this bank holiday weekend just gone.

Thanks for voting it cold (but I know you weren't to know) ;)
#16
Great I was just telling my mum last night to get one, she complains that due to the hard life her machines get they never last more than a few years.

The only thing is you can just about buy a new Bosch washing machine (2 year guarantee) every 2 years within a 6 year period for around the price of one Miele with a 5 year warranty
#19
Once you've had a Miele washing machine I defy anyone to even think about any other brand (you probably won't need to think about another brand for 10-20 years anyway). Nothing, in my experience of AEG (friends), Siemens (friends), Bosch (Dad's), comes close. Ours will soon be ten years old, never needed anything doing to it and it looks like it just came out of the packaging.

Quite apart from the build quality it's little things like being able to open the door at any point in the cycle as long as the water level isn't too high and the drum is stopped.

Initial cost is quite high but worked out as the cost per year it may well be the cheapest option - and it saves the hassle of constantly replacing a lesser machine and so is presumably better for the environment.

And no, I don't work for Miele!
#20
john lewis give 3 years, plus if you put on a credit card that offer free warranty, make that 4 years - not bad for a £250-299 machine.
#21
Who wants a washing machine to last 20 years? lol, Miele look dated as it is!

the environment? saving repair/replacement costs? no hassle/wait between repairs/changing machines?

aren't all washing machines boring looking things anyway?

"Who wants a washing machine to last 20 years? lol, Miele look dated as it is!"

Perhaps somebody who's interested in value for money. But to each their own... :)

Well done in posting quite possibly the most rediculous coment ever!

I pray every night that my washer blows up every four years so I can get one that looks nicer:? Who cares if it cleaned my clothes well, as long as I can have the one with the extra 4 programmes you will never use and go faster stripes.
#26
Only comparable quality to Miele IMHO are the big American machines. My original GE washer lasted 15 years. Current Whirlpool 18 years. GE Fridge - 34 years!
#27
if anyone thought my john lewis own brand washing machine recommendation was cra p, check out http://www.washerhelp.co.uk

they agree miele is the best and its worth paying more. but they say which also found zanussi who make john lewis and tricity, are the next best thing...

Bought machine from J lewis, £160 (with discounts from here) 2 yr gtee. Put 3 yr warranty on it for £50. Fully working machine for 5yrs. IMO better value for money. No bells or whistles, very basic.

White goods have now become the new disposables, not economic to repair. Had AEG, wanted £280 for repair. AEG & Bosch used to be very reliable but not any more.

Either go for cheaper ones with good deals . & gtees or most expensive. £3-400 machines are no more reliable.

yes i bought one good deal for £250 delivered , look for used returned WITH TRANSIT BOLTS in place , mine was brand new with no marks and all books etc took 2 weeks to arrive but incredible machine so quick and quiet you can tell the quality .

I used to be a rep for zanussi selling their washing machines in John Lewis, and miele really are the best, if you want hassle free washing for a long time, or if you have a young family that pound a washing machine then buy a miele!

That's a valid option but not valued as high in my book as it might seem initially. Certainly might be the way to go for most people on a budget (Let's face it, who wants to spend their money on a washing machine of all things!). But remember the manufacturer sees fit to give a 2 year warranty, whereas Miele are saying their's are built to last 20 and put their money where their mouth is to some extent by providing at least 5/10 year warranties. Also consider the efficiency ratings and running costs. Oh and the Miele's are as basic looking as they come. You really are paying for parts quality, not cool LCD displays etc.

Washing machines aren't interesting items which is why people generally don't look into them in much detail. Were it a car, you might prefer the build quality and smooth running of a [insert German car here] vs a Corsa for example, which you could argue would cost the same to replace every couple of years.

There's no doubt a Miele isn't right for everyone. But if we're staying on topic, the deal is only about free 5 and 10 year warranties on offer. If you're already after a Miele, then here you go...

what was the j lewis machine you bought (model, spec, etc) and how long ago was that?

i am considering one as they give a THREE YEAR GUARANTEE!

Was not criticising the deal, it is a good one and worth pointing out the added bonus. I used to spend a lot for more reliable machines e.g AEG. Just wanted to point out another option.

I bought the indesit WA111 from john lewis, 2 yr gtee. Very basic, surprisingly quiet, well pleased

All hotpoints come with a 5 year parts guarantee - My hotpoint was leaking from the tray, had 4 engineers out and finally a senior engineer who ended up just raising the legs on the front of the machine. I felt a bit of a fool but 4 other engineers missed the problem. The service was very good and as I bought it from John Lewis the labour is free for 2 years

Buy from John Lewis if you are looking for an appliance - highly reccomended - use quido as well

I just bought a Miele 5962 for £1200 with the 10 year warranty, I expect it to last 20 years. People that don't gey why they cost so much so do their research, these are for people who want the best and are prepared to pay for it.
My last BOSCH jumped about at 1000rpm but this is still at 1600rpm and I can watch TV without shutting all the doors.
Well recommended of you can afford it.
