Just phoned them myself too, it's a genuine offer and the iphone is free if you go for the £45 tariff. It's only available on the £35 and above tariff. So this is schorching hot. I hope instore is doing it to so I can use my o2 Open Card

It's a loyalty scheme, my company uses o2 so we get all sorts of o2 privileges.

Possibly the worst contracts ever? My Simplicity is £9.75 a month for 300 texts 150 mins.

We are on about tariffs to get a new iPhone here, there are plenty of cheaper tariffs if you don't need an iPhone, and cheaper still if you don't need a new handset at all, as in your tariff.

well said

I have an O2 open card but never used it before, but it does say in the TC's it excludes offers so would you still get the ITouch?

Yes you would still get the I touch and Yes you can still use the Open card, which is a 30% discount code for big companies and their freinds and families off the tariff price.

So the £45 contract comes down to £31:50 a month.

Technically you aren't an o2 customer - you're a customer (potential victim) of "Carphone Warehouse o2" - when it comes to cancel/upgrade/barter for a cheaper deal, you will see the difference (i.e. if you look at o2 retentions threads & then ring up to see what you can get, you'll see how their offers compare).

Good advice, just tell O2 you want to go to Orange and they'll bend over backwards to reduce your costs.... HOWEVER beware as some of these 'deals' only last for 12 or 18 months so your tariff may not get any cheaper in year 3, or may even be more expensive.
