Zio in Horsforth, has joined in, offering free food, wine and some Christmas joy for the city’s homeless and the elderly without any family on December 25. The restaurant will be open between midday and 4pm for Christmas lunch, with roast turkey, a starter and dessert forming part of a free three-course meal. There will be wine on offer, and staff have arranged for a singer and hopefully presents on the day. Head chef Mo Zanoubi, 34, will be cooking the food, while owner Mo Rastegar and his family will serve. Mr Zanoubi, who has an 18-month-old baby, Leonardo, with wife Talita, said: “It is just something to do for the community. We were originally going to be closed but we have decided to do this event to see if we can make some people happy. “This year was a hard one for my wife and I. Usually we spend time with the family at Christmas, but this year we don’t have family. My father-in-law passed away this year and my mother-in-law is in Italy. Because of the restaurant we can’t go over there. “We thought that we wanted to have that joy on Christmas Day, so why not be in the restaurant with other people to have some happy time on Christmas Day. We want to do something for the community to make people happy.”

Why is this not in freebies?

There's always one... An amazing and inspirational act and you are nitpicking.
Pathetic really...

Instead of the meaningless act of voting on this, DO SOMETHING here is a suggestion https://england.shelter.org.uk/donate

as per my other post...
The CEO is on £130,000

Other menbers of management team will also be on a good poke!
I would rather donate a meal to Zio in this thread than to Shelter direct.

God bless hukd..I'm homeless at the moment. Was just sat under a bridge, checking out the latest deals on my iPhone 7. So glad someone posted this. I will finally get to eat for one day of the year. Only another 364 days until my next free meal..god bless us all

Does it really matter where this is posted? If it's a freebie so be it. Try and focus on the act of kindness and you might feel a bit less annoyed by it!

Sounds great :)

I would have liked to go to something like this, as I have no family...but I'm not elderly. Not for the free stuff, I could pay, it's just that I guess most of the places round here doing Christmas Day dinner are just going to be full of families and friends rather than a big gathering of people there for the same reasons.

I'm working a night shift later though, so at least I will see some people today... in the most rubbish environment possible hah.

Fabulous gesture from the Zio restores faith in human kindness,
More and more truths just slowly coming out about some so called charities with bosses taking money from the good cause I find it disgraceful and I would like to see transparency when they produce the tearful adverts pleading for help

Fabulous stuff.

Blessings on them and their business for 2017 - the world needs more people like this xx

Admiral in Cardiff was doing this for the homeless with use of showers, clean clothes, blankets and a Xmas meal. They refused to show up.
