Well I went online to upgrade and if you choose Phone Only, you can get great phones for free on a 12 month deal.

For example, I'm on the £20 a month but just got the Blackberry Bold 9700 for free. The phone is worth more than the £240 I'll pay over the next 12 months so works out completely free.

EDIT: People have confirmed this works on £10 a month. So sell the phone and Vodafone are paying you £130+ over the course of the year.

Keep the same plan, so I get 600 mins, Unlimited Texts and Mobile Internet + Vodafone Passport, £20 a month, I'll sell the phone so it will end up costing nothing :)

Alternative for me was going with cashback on the o2 sim only deal which works out at £11.66 a month

Maybe the people who were on the £10/month SIM only will also get the free phone
#3
Are you upgrading early or within the last 70 days?
#4
I got this deal last year I was on £10 (100mins 500 txts) 30 day contract signed up for 18months on the same tariff and got a Nokia N97 free, they were worth about 400 at the time
#5

#12
yer mabye to good to be true i hope not
#13
so i can buy a sim only and do this the next day?
#14
thats what we want to know
#15
I could be wrong but I was last told by vodafone I had to keep the sim only for 6 months before I could upgrade it to a contract. However I do know that yesterday a friend told me he was on a £15 sim only and was able to get the bold free and keep the same tarriff for 12 months on the upgrade deal.
#16
and what phones can u upgrade to
#17
last time it was for 30 day rolling sims, this deal is for 12month contracts... so unless vodafone glitched up again, you cannot start a new sim and get this deal in the next day, however you could if the rolling sim allows it to, as you will also be within your 70day upgrade period. However i highly doubt vodafone will make such a blunder again. Worth a shot though ifyou dont mind spending £10 to see it it works, and just cancel at the end of the month. But if your prepared to wait a year, take a 1 year sim only contract, and do this in 1 years time...
#18
what do i do after i have logged on my account? do i go to upgrades?
#19
just saw it. there arnt that many to choose from (no iphone lol) which one has the highest resale value? blackberry 9700 im guessing? white or black
#20

il get the list up in a sec.

its weird they have the option to choose between 12,18,24 month contracts but they offer the same phones at the same price (free)

also there all free which is weird because the 8520 curve is definately not the same price as the 9700 but im not complaining lol.

I guess within the last 70 days. Don't know if you can buy a new SIM but more of a heads up to everyone who went for it last year as I assume this will work even on £10 a month.

ive had the contract for more than a year now. i first had the 30 day contract, 6 months later i upgraded to the 12 month, now its been the 10th or so month after i upgraded and its allowing me to do it again.

i believe many people tried to take out the contract and upgrade immediately but failed the last time this deal came up.

I am on the £10 month rolling sim deal and I have just upgraded to a free Blackberry 9700.

excellent deal - thanks to poster

ive currently got a 12month sim only with voda which ends at the end of this month. I'm currently on the £15 a month deal with 600 mins and unlimited txts. I'd like to increase to the £25 a month plan with 1200 mins, 3000 txts, unlimited landlines and 500mb internet.
Can I upgrade to this deal and get the free phone as well? which phone is worth the most and how much is it worth?
#30
Just upgraded to the N97 Mini staying on my £10 contract.
Heat added, many thanks jazzy639

Quite why the heck it went to -62 when I have since sold the phone for £325 and am committed to just 12 months at £10 for 600 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited Vodafone to Vodafone and Vodafone Passport I do not know.

Excellent news though for those of us who have well and truly shafted Vodafone.

Please can someone make it clear - will this work for anyone who takes out a NEW contract out or do you need to be an existing customer...

much obliged for people who get back to me.
:)
#36
You need to be an existing SIM Only contract holder within 70 days for a 24 months or 50 days for a 12 month contract of the anniversary of your initial deal. Some people claim to have been able to do this after just 6 months of their contract but when upgrading online, I am fairly sure my initial timescales hold true.

I missed out on this deal last year, but took out the £10 a month sim only 12-month contract with 600 minutes and unlimited texts.

A year later, I was able to 'upgrade the phone' (even though I didn't previously have a phone from Vodafone) last night. The deal was £10 a month for a further 12 months and a free Blackberry Bold 9700 on the way. RESULT:-D

This morning, I checked my inbox and 3 emails from vodafone:?
1)Your upgrade order is being processed
2) Your upgrade order has been processed successfully
3) Your upgrade request failed

So I just spoke to the call centre, the lady said my order was showing as approved, and my phone would be delivered by the courier either tomorrow (Saturday) or more likely Monday. She did say that it seemed strange that the website allowed me to get a Blackberry for just £10 a month and there was a slight chance that the order may not go through. However, her system was showing that the order had definitely been processed, so I have a weekend of worrying about 'will it/won't it' ahead of me:x

Edit: Just logged into My Vodafone account and saw the following line when trying to check if I could still upgrade

'You are currently not eligible for an upgrade until Upgrade on 31st May 2011'

Ooh the waiting.....

yannar you will get it, im sure of it, lucky you mate :) im currently tied to may next year (but i got a normal 2 year contract with phone, £10/mo 500txts 100mins) but i still got a flicker of hope that i may one day get hold this deal which pops up occasionally.
