Why Go Green with HSBC?

New and existing HSBC Bank Account customers have the option to Go Green with their current account and avoid unnecessary paper in your everyday banking.
Going Green with your current account means

No paper statements - your statements and charges summaries will be delivered electronically via Internet Banking.

Fewer letters to open - we will call or email you for service reasons wherever possible rather than write to you.

No cheque book or paying-in book for your current account.

No paper marketing.

this could be good if you are opening an account through quidco and getting back £20!!

Excellent. Free fiver.

I never look at my paper statements anyway!

EDIT actually just noticed the "no cheque book" bit. No good for me that... never mind. And they give the fiver to charity if you are an existing customer... hmmm.

I don't mind giving money to charity (I have direct debits totalling more than £20 a month going to various causes) but I don't appreciate them effectively dictating terms like this.

Wow i didn't realise that was possible! For existing customers (like me) it might be worth opening a Bonus Saver as all they ask you is to put at least £1 a month into it.

yeh theres a few other hsbc offers on quidco as well

Jasejames: I didn't realise that! Still.. I don't think it's a bad deal.

I doubt HSBC are doing it from the goodness of their hearts... they'll be saving more than a fiver a person surely. Wonder if they're donating the rest to an environmental charity?? Doubtful.

hmmm an ethical offer from such an ethical global company!! Guess it depends - if you just want a fiver then maybe ok... if you want Green banking then only the Co-operative Bank runs it's whole business ethically.

Just had a look on quidco you can get £20 for just opening an HSBC cedit card.
I'm going to do both.

applied and have changed into green bank account.

The £5 will be credited to your Green account within 21 days of you opening a new Green account.
