Nope.. offer not valid on Gift Vouchers :)

Excludes the purchase of gift vouchers using gift vouchers as a method of payment.

I did that last year to save £20 on £100 pound purchase. You got a £10 voucher when you bought £100 worth vouchers, and a £10 voucher when you spent the £100 vouchers buying an item.

You can, however, not use vouchers to buy vouchers, and so can "only" get the double discount.

From Edi's comment above, you still should be able to do this as you are not buying gift vouchers with gift vouchers. (You are paying cash/credit-card for vouchers first time, and second time spending vouchers on an item.)

Only if buying gift vouchers with gift vouchers, which phatbear didn't say he was doing.

If you're buying an expensive item it's best to buy multiples of £100 gift voucher then buy the item with a gift voucher.

Say you're getting a £999.99 TV, don't buy this outright as you'll only get £10. Buy 9 lots of £100 gift voucher, you'll get £90. Then buy the TV with £990 gift voucher + £10 of your own money, remember to tick the box to give 20p to charity and you'll get another £10 back. You've then got a £1k TV for £900

Another thing I did last year, though not planned, which extended the life of vouchers.

The vouchers you get in the promotion have a limited life (by 24 December 2007). But if you use them to buy an item, and then take it back they give you a voucher back instead of a refund (as the item was bought user a voucher), however, as that voucher was printed by the till it has the standard voucher life of (I think) 3 years.

Nice one i needed to buy something thats £150 so I was going to buy 1 x £100 voucher and get £10 back and 1 x £50 voucher and get £5 back then buy the item with the £150 vouchers and get another tenner so then I'll have £25 in vouchers to get myself something.

Right im off to flex some plastic.

Please note that if you take this route and have to return the item, you will be refunded in gift vouchers.

Can anyone tell me which is the best way to do this.....

I'm after a...

£99.99 cooker hood
£279.99 cooker
£299.99 washing machine.

I have the total £685 (inc the £5 delivery) on an Argos Energysavers card which is basically a card with argos gift vouchers on it. All the items I'm after are for home delivery only.

Whats the best way to buy my goods as save the most amount?

Please help!

As far as I know you can not use vouchers on line.
However you can pay with vouchers instore for home delivery.
You should buy 2 x £100 gift vouchers (you will get 2 x £10 gift vouchers free)
Order the item in store for home delivery.
When you pay, use the 2 £10 gift vouchers first as they will have a shorter expiry date.
You will get another £10 gift voucher free when paying.

Excellent deal.

I had planned to buy an Xbox 360 core (+ 2 free games) from Argos for £175.

Went into Argos Extra in Warrington this morning. I puchased £100 worth of vouchers and received a free £10 voucher. I then purchased £60 worth of vouchers and received a free £5 voucher.

I then purchased the Xbox 360 with all my vouchers. £175 item for £160.

Thanks again !

I'd ask in store first to find out if you would get extra vouchers for buying vouchers in store with your card (I can't see it mentioned either way in the T&C) if you can then buy 6 lots of £100 vouchers (you would have slightly better value if you bought another £50 but you will have argos vouchers left over that way). This gives you an extra £60 (or £65) in vouchers.
Whether you can get the vouchers or not buy each item seperately, when you buy the hood add something extra to take it over £100 so you get the £10 voucher, you pay an extra £10 in delivery costs but get an extra £20 in vouchers.
You may be able to apply the voucher from one order towards the next one to minimise hou much you have in vouchers at the end.

i used today 4x£100 in gv+ 1x£50GV (in seperate transactions)
recived £45 in vouchers Free

then used vouchers to buy £495 worth of furnature , had to pay the £4.95 del on switch card so got another free vouch :)

I take it it's necessary to purchase multiples of gift vouchers in seperate transactions in order to receive your full entitlement of free gift cards, i.e. if you want to puchase £150 worth of GV, you have to split that into two transactions (one for £100 to receive a £10 gift card and then a second transaction of £50 to get the other £5 gift card)?

Anyone know if Argos allow you to use your Nectar points to purchase gift vouchers or do they only allow you to use points towards the purchase of items (which excludes gift vouchers)?

Thanks.

from the terms and conditions.

10. The maximum value of gift vouchers provided on purchases of any spend over £100 per transaction will be £10.

Does that help?
#21
Yes, thanks, that answers one of my questions.

The other is, will Argos let me use 20,000 Nectar points to purchase £100 of gift vouchers which would then qualify me for a free £10 gift card?
