Starting from Thursday 24th July, Subway will be running a National Breakfast promotion across five national newspapers offering a free bacon breakfast Sub for every reader.

They will be running vouchers in the Metro, i, Mirror and Record in July and then in the Daily Star and Express in August. Each voucher will be valid for 3 days.

I believe the publication dates are as follows:
Daily Mirror - 24th July (Page 25) Thanks tomtombeanie!
Metro - 25th July
i - 26th July
Daily Express- 10th August
Daily Star - 16th August

Some stores are NOT participating, might be best to ring first & check with the store.

Being Halal-friendly does not mean being unfriendly to people who do eat pork. ;)

The concessions that British society is making to please foreign cultures and practices is nothing short of scandalous.

If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them.

i thought subway was halal friendly now ?

The recent "news" about Subway becoming halal was nonsense, stores that have been halal for a number of years continue to be so and those who serve pork products continue to do so!

I visited Subway last month for the first time... Underwhelmed to say the least! I'd compare their breakfast roll/sub thingy to a microwaved bap. Bland!

Americanisation, don't believe the hype!

The stores who are halal clearly advertise it in store, if you don't see a sign claiming the store is halal them your safest to find another.

I worked in subway a few years ago, our store wasn't halal at all but we didn't claim to be, at the same time plenty of others are :)

So it's all about which franchise runs each store and their preference.

subway quality is pretty poor at the best of times, so I can't imagine that the quality or quantity of dead pig is going to be brilliant in a free sub. Still, it is free I suppose...

Yeap. As FireStarter says, there have been halal Subways for years, there is only handful of them across the country and they are clearly marked. A lot of other chains have been caught out for using halal meat without informing the customers. At least Subway were very clear about it.

Onto the sandwich itself, if it is anything like the sausage sandwich, you won't want it! their lunch time sandwiches are good though.

Ever thought you might not have to believe everything you read in the papers? Genuine question here.

No issue from my end, especially when it's free IF you buy those papers on a regular basis, even then, paper like i only cost £0.20... not too shabby just for a morning fatty pick me up.

No doubt it will be a "Participating restaurants only" deal. A few of my locals never take part in national promotions

Had one at Victoria Station a couple of months back. Didn't think it was possible to mess up a bacon sandwich but they managed it. I say bacon sandwich - it was actually more like a bacon flavoured fat sandwich. Maybe I was unlucky but I certainly won't be going for another one!

Yep, best thing to do is cover it in brown sauce then it has some flavour. Same with standard subs, plenty onion and salad and mayo to make it edible

I'm not a fan of subs, either.

Inedible for the most part.

'Dead Pig'?. Bit of an emotive turn of phrase. Any particular reason? They tried it with 'live pigs' but the little beggars kept trying to get out of the sub.

Always found subways to be really good quality and preferable to burger fast food places...you get the choice of adding loads of salad to your dead animals....which is nice.....or there are some veggy options!
